Imagine being a part of one of the major issues in society today, having the choice to oppose it, yet you end up joining it. Or imagine going home one night to a family member that isn't acting themselves, is throwing up, and looks horrible; then it becomes a regular thing. Every night, the same routine over and over. Then one night they don't come home; you get a call the next morning "Hello?" "sir/ma'am, This is the deputy, I'm sorry to inform you that your loved one has been in a terrible accident due to the influence of alcohol and has unfortunately been pronounced brain dead." Abusing alcohol is not something to take lightly. Alcohol can affect the abusers, their peers, and the society in a number of ways. Heart effects: Cardiomyopathy-stretching of heart muscle and Strings, Arrhythmias, irregular heartbeat, stroke, and high blood pressure, Liver effects: Steatosis(Fatty liver), Alcoholic hepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis. Pancreas effects: Alcohol causes the pancreas to produce toxic substances that can lead to pancreatitis. (Swelling of blood vessels in the pancreas that prevents digestion.) Cancers: Mouth, esophagus, throat, liver, and breasts. Peers have a great influence on alcohol and have a great effect from alcohol. The people around you can affect you just as much as you can affect them. "The abuser is harmful to their peers as their peers are harmful to them." -Joseph E.
