Recommended: history of volleyball to now essay

Volleyball is a popular sport combined with elements of basketball, baseball, tennis, and handball. Originated in the United States, this sport has had over a hundred years of history. It was invented by William Morgan, who served as a director of Physical Education at the YMCA in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1895. After the first game of volleyball was played at Springfield College in 1896, it started to diffuse in the United States. The first foreign countries to incorporate volleyball was Canada, Asia, and the Southern Hemisphere.
Volleyball has changed over the years, ever since it was invented and now with different rules to follow. Hands are now allowed, rally scoring is used, serving techniques have changed, and a backup player is available to pass the ball.
Brazil tops the list as one of the best volleyball playing country on the global scale. Brazilian volleyball teams participate in Olympic levels, including both male and female national teams. They compete in competitions such as the Volleyball World Cup and the Volleyball World Championship, and Brazil is also known as the world champion in beach volleyball. Today, over 800 million people play volleyball in the world.
The hearth of soccer is unknown. However, different countries have played ball games similar to soccer. Cuju, a game played in ancient China by only kicking the ball is almost identical to soccer. Skyrockets and harpastum are ball games similar to soccer, which were played by the Greeks and Romans in ancient times. Modern soccer originated back in England and the rules allowed kicking, punching, and even biting. Modern soccer was then played in schools, colleges, and universities. Team sizes were also created up to five players per game. Originally, a player can only participate in one game, however, substitutions are now available.
Basketball plays an important role in today’s sport society. Clothes now have basketball teams designed for it and numerous children’s dreams are to become a basketball player. Located in the United States, the NBA (National Basketball Association) earns millions of dollars from the participants. The United States has one of the best basketball players worldwide. Because of the programs the United States joined, their national teams improved surpassing other countries and won many championships and World Cups.

Supposedly, Naismith came up with all the rules for this game in no more than “about an hour”, according to Alexander Wolff.
