“Virtually every resident, organization, and human activity in the United States generates some type of waste. Many different types of waste are generated, including municipal solid waste, agricultural and animal waste, medical waste, radioactive waste, hazardous waste, industrial non-hazardous waste, construction and demolition debris, extraction and mining waste, oil and gas production waste, fossil fuel combustion waste, and sewage sludge. The amount of waste produced is influenced by economic activity, consumption, and population growth. Developed societies, such as the United States, generally produce large amounts of municipal solid waste (e.g., food wastes, packaged goods, disposable goods, used electronics) and commercial and industrial wastes (e.g., demolition debris, incineration residues, refinery sludges). Among industrialized nations, the United States generates the largest amounts of municipal solid waste per person on a daily basis (EPA n.d. para.1).”
The mass sum of solid waste per person makes up our individual carbon footprint. Basically, “…the carbon footprint is the sum of all emissions of CO2 (carbon dioxide), which were induced by human activities in a given time frame (TfC, n.d., para.2).” Whether it is burning fuels from a car engine, heating our homes, …show more content…

One way is the creation of “dumpsites,” also known as landfills, which are man-made locations that hold mass amounts of household wastes. Or other non-hazardous wastes much like, “…commercial solid waste, nonhazardous sludge, conditionally exempt small quantity generator waste, and industrial nonhazardous solid waste (EPA-Landfills, 2017, para.1).” There are many landfill Managers that may state that there are nonhazardous wastes in landfills, because they encourage hazardous wastes to be dropped off at a station. But, people do not always follow the rules and throw hazardous waste in the trash without properly disposing of
