1. What sources are utilized to recruit employees to the HCO?
Recruitment covering the entire process of sourcing, selecting, and onboarding employees to an organization. MidMichigan “Talent Acquisition Recruiters” use a variety of both internal and external strategies to bring new talent on board, such as employment website, social recruiting such as linkedIn and career fairs.

2. What department(s) are responsible for new employee orientation?
The department responsible for new employee orientation is Education and Human Resources

3. How often do employees have their performance appraised?
Employee performance appraisals are done at 90 days for new employee and annually thereafter.

4. What is the employee performance appraisal based upon? What criteria are used (attach a form)?
The employee job performance review is based on “values in action”, strengthens and opportunities, and key goals and accomplishments. MidMichigan defines, employee values in the areas of excellence, integrity, teamwork, and accountability. Each area is rated on a scale of one to five.
A second assessment is a review of an employee’s strengths and opportunities. Strengths help identify strong attributes, abilities, or proficiencies that maximize the employee’s contribution to the organization, whereas opportunities acknowledge areas in which further knowledge, skills, and abilities need improvement.
Lastly, employees are required to set key goals and assess whether those “goals” were accomplished.

5. How does this appraisal impact salary/wages?

HR have the role of organizing people so that they can effectively perform job functions within the system. This includes managing recruiting and hiring employees, coordinating employee benefits and suggesting employee training and development strategies. Further, they advise managers on many issues related to employees and suggest strategies for increasing employee commitment to the organization.

15. How does the HR Department assist your department and other departments?
The exact nature of how HR assists with Health Information, Lisa was unsure of. However, she did explain HR has a “One Call, One Answer” resolution center with the goal of providing any HR related questions with the right answer the first time.
