New Employee Orientation
Since Interns will be expected to adhere to established policies, procedures, and rules governing professional behavior, they must attend the morning session of New Employee Orientation (NEO) which covers employment related County policies and procedures, as well as, payroll information (payroll information is applicable for paid interns only). Departments/Divisions must schedule their selected Intern using ENN’s Calendar of Events.
Hours of Work
Interns should work a minimum of four (4) hours per week and no more than 40 hours per week. The Intern Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating the Intern’s work schedule. Internships must be conducted with respect to the student’s academic schedule. Paid interns must work at a minimum of at least 24 hours a week, depending on the county budget.

Work Hours
A. The following restrictions apply to work hours for student interns:
• Work hours will be established between theitnern and the division/department manager, and will be between the core hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5 p.m.
• Interns are not authorized to work overtime or to perform unsupervised work under any circumstances.

An effective written evaluation will focus the student’s continued learning objectives that were identified as part of the Internship. Supervisors should take the time to evaluate the student’s positive accomplishments, strengths, and weaknesses. If a student is unable to meet the learning objectives, suggestions for improvement should be given. Complete an Intern Evaluation Form (see Appendix) at the middle and the end of the Internship and discuss with the Intern. Use this form is the school doesn’t provide their own required type of form. This form can also be downloaded on Personnel’s ENN home page under the Forms
