Professionalism Reflection
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity about medicine and medical literature.
Medicine is more than the urea cycle and the histology of the jejunum. Medicine has a way of impacting different cultures. To nurture my curiosity about medicine and its influence in different communities and culture, I participated in the Diversity Health Series. The series broaden my horizon on what challenges in regards to medicine that different cultures face. It assisted in equipping me with tools as a future physician to this cultural awareness. The videos and discussions following them provided insights that are beyond those that can be provided by textbooks and multiple choice exams.
Additionally, with every lecture given, professors include a handout for each. The handouts include both required readings and recommended ones. I would occasionally dive a bit deeper than the required readings, by looking into the recommended ones for topics that I find more intriguing than others. These recommended materials, such as those for embryology, provides a bit more of interesting fun facts that are not tested on.

The group consist of seven students. We have had very little number of meetings due to how packed our schedules can be. However, we have all been working towards the project individually and online. As a member of this group, I have contributed in putting together the PowerPoint slides assigned to me. Furthermore, I have also lead with researching and starting the group off with the first additional resources required for the presentation. Being part of a group, it is important that each member’s opinions are heard and understood without arguing over disagreements.
