Personality plays a pivotal role in helping individuals find job opportunities that suit them. However, some individuals struggle with finding the right career path and therefore, turn to the aid of personality tests. Personality tests alleviate this confusion by providing a series of questions to help categorize an individual’s personality into a four-letter type. With sixteen possible options, these personality types clarify the most likely successful areas for an individual career. Personally, I have been able to utilize personality tests as well as several programs to help identify a job I am particularly passionate to pursue. My outcome indicates that I express strong extrovert qualities, moderate expression, strong feeling, and moderate judgement. In the beginning, I did not truly understood the meaning of my personality test results. After further investigation, I learned that the ESFJ portrays “dependability, dedication, and commitment to providing for the needs of others (CareerTest, 2017) .” They enjoy caring for individuals as well as assuming leadership positions. I learned that the ESFJ relies strongly on feelings when making decisions. People with ESFJ personality type tend to struggle with balancing right and wrong decisions. However, they strongly lead with their hearts rather than their heads, which can sometimes lead them to make quick judgements rather than contemplating the circumstance (CareerTest, 2017)(Humanmetrics, 1971). I believe that the traits common with ESFJ are closely match my own. As an extrovert, I love meeting new people as well as spending large quantities of time with the people I love and I often feel most energized with large groups of people. I entered college as a business major because I felt that I could make an acceptable income postgraduate and I could force myself to find a area within business where I could succeed. However, the more I explored different business careers, the less I wanted to pursue one. I knew deep down that I had a strong connection to working with children and therefore, felt that I should look into careers that match my personality. I was very fortunate to find that my personality type fit strongly with counseling and education. ESFJ personalities excel in career paths that involve high social interaction with an opportunity to serve others. These career paths include positions such as social workers, educators, counselors, and even choreographers (O*Net, 2017). Currently, my is working as an elementary school teacher and eventually as an elementary school counselor. In order achieve success within these two fields, O*Net suggests the acquisition of certain skills. The education required to maintain an elementary teaching position includes an undergraduate and often recommends a master’s degree. The qualities of excellent teachers include basic skills such as “talking to others and using the best training or teaching strategies for learning new things,” social skills such as “teaching people how to do something and understanding people's reactions,” and people and
