“Got Nutrition ?” is a non-profit organization dedicated to bring youth and parents together to advance their knowledge and the application of nutrition for the sake of healthy lifestyles. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for the youth and promote parental involvement in their nutritional knowledge. Nutrition has a huge impact on youths lives and learning to eat right can greatly change how they view their bodies, how they feel, and what they are able to accomplish. “Got Nutrition?” provides a variety of nutrition teaching and assistance to youth and parents. Vincent attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated with a bachelor 's in Urban Planning. He continued his studies and earned a Master 's of Public Health. Through his love for urban planning and passion for helping others, Vincent empowers his clients to achieve their nutrition and lifestyle goals while enjoying every single bite. His enthusiasm and dedication to the health and nutrition field is evident through his succes. Vincent has traveled around the world to visit many poverty areas. There he is featured as a key speaker and motivator to all the people who battle through poverty. He also contributes to the distribution of medical supplies and food for the people. Nutrition education is often promoted among adolescents to prevent diabetes, obesity and induce healthier behavior change. Nutrition intervention programs are frequently reinforced by health educators or teachers to address the importance of healthier dietary practices among teenagers. These interventions are often emphasized due to the nutritional vulnerability of this group. Indeed adolescents’ intense nutritional requirements for growth, along with their naivety in regard to mass media, or the food industry’s marketing strategies, may engender transience. Moreover, their high concerns with regard to body image oftentimes engender instability, and insecurity which may produce disordered eating among this group. Nutrition promotion and education are critical to produce a change. This handbook aims to guide adolescents to understand and respond to their daily dietary needs by applying healthy food choices.
The children range in age from 12-15 and their issues from simple obesity to needing gastric-bypass surgery. The children are fed fast food in school cafeterias, with government labeling of pizza, fries and tomato paste as vegetables. Stores have candies and snacks at children’s eye level, and at home they eat the standard offerings of processed foods. Nutritionism is an ideology that believes that the nutrients in foods are the key to understanding them. Nutritionism believers are so focused on the nutrients that food contains that they forget about all other aspects of food. The problem is that consumers rely on packaging to tell them what nutrients a food provides, since nutrients cannot be obviously seen, and they rely on science to tell us what nutrients are good and which are “evil”.

After a long afternoon, those students who stay after school rely on the school provided snack to get them through dinner. It is very important that this snack is nutritious so that they receive the energy needed to get them through the evening. The CATCH Kids Club is an after school program which focuses strictly on improving nutrition and physical activity in elementary school students’ lives (3). This particular program focused on training after school-care staff and teaching them the tools necessary to teach children about nutrition after hours. The focus was on setting up lessons and plans providing an outline of what the snack was and the physical activities that were going to be done during that time (3). Recently, there has been a federal law change that says schools must provide a drink, whether it is milk or juice and a larger portion of fruits or vegetables for after school programs as well as before and during school hours. Milk and juice provide greater nutrient intakes as well as vitamins (4). Milk, in particular, provides a significant amount of calcium and helps build strong bones and teeth. Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously imagined.

You have to understand what foods provide healthy amounts of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, needed. I need to watch my fat, cholesterol, phosphorus, and zinc intake. Over the two days, I needed to increase my vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, folate, and potassium consumption. There are a variety of foods that could be easily added to my daily diet that can help to increase the areas where I am lacking in vitamins and minerals. This dietary assessment has taught me a lot about my own eating habits and has inspired me to modify them for a healthier lifestyle. Probably the biggest change I will make after having done this project is to increase my intake of vegetables and fruits.
The nutrition table assignment has taught me much about what exactly goes into my body. Before reading about nutrition, I, like many people, often thought the key to a good nutritional diet was with a restrictive approach (Bushman, 2017, pg. 12). One filled with unappealing options like gluten-free goods that were bland tasting. However, this isn’t the case. A balanced approach is actually more preferable (Bushman, 2017, pg. 38). My initial problem was that I focused too much on a single group. Instead of eating a balanced diet, I ate high levels of protein and vegetables. I neglected dairy, fruit, and grains.
My cultural background will be a great contribution to the Washington State University Coordinated Dietetics Program. Being raised in a Malasia, having visited different countries, and now living in the United States, I have experienced the similarities and differences among many diverse cultural groups and nutritional diets. This broad exposure to different cultures allowed me to relate to different types of people by understanding their ways and beliefs, a quality that will help me work well with other students and people. For example, many Malasians will eat something that is unhealthy in nutritional standards and has no benefits to the body. However, they will continue to consume it because it is common in their culture. I would like to teach Malasian people to look at food from a cultural and nutritional angle to be more healthful.
Childhood obesity is a health problem that is becoming increasingly prevalent in society’s youth. For a number of years, children across the nation have become accustomed to occasionally participating in physical activities and regularly snacking on sugary treats. In result of these tendencies, approximately one third of American children are currently overweight or obese (Goodwin). These grim statistics effectively represent all the lack of adult interference, in regards to health, has done to the youth of America. The habits of over consuming foods and under participating in physical activities are all too common in the children of today. Children cannot solve this issue alone, though. These young people need to essentially be given the opportunities to make positive health decisions and learn about good, nutritional values.

Nutrition is an important key to learn and understand in your life while you get older. Many people do not know the proper diet and exercise to keep their body healthy and strong. Throughout this course, I have learned information on different kinds of vitamins, carbohydrates, amino acids and other helpful diets. After reading and logging my dietary log for a week it has helped me re-organize my diet and health. I have learned about how to personally manage my exercise and diet and I am seeing some good results because of what I learned from this class.
