Legacy. What does it mean to you? What do you want your legacy to be? Something you can leave behind for your kids and say, “Yeah I did that.”? Something you are proud of? Something that was a huge accomplishment? Think about it, who is going to want to leave behind a legacy filled with hatred and regret? Misfortune, and death? Unfortunately, that is exactly the legacy our generation will leave behind if we continue to throw away plastics in our ocean. Plastics should not be found in nature, or the middle of our oceans, let alone become so abundant that they are a direct threat to not only the animals, but humans as well. Plastics originated to try and reserve the precious metals and elements we were using in order to make glass and metal, but little did we know we would actually be harming our planet, rather than saving its most valuable resources. …show more content…

Throughout researching the topic, “plastics in our ocean” there are many credible sources to help me along with my research. A book length source written by, Captain Charles Moore; who won a pulitzer prize in 2007, co-authored by Cassandra Phillips, titled Plastic Ocean. I have also interviewed Bonnie Monteleone, from the POP Inc, the plastic ocean organization that is a non-profit organization, “aspiring to rid our oceans of plastics and generate sustainable practices.” Lastly, another extremely credible source I have researched is a documentary entitled, A Plastic Ocean, directed by award-winning journalist, and filmmaker, Craig Leeson, who is also involved in many “save the ocean” organizations, which has also become a very important source while researching my
