First of all, intellectual self-discipline should be encouraged within the classroom. I say this because critical thinking is the key factor in intellectual self-discipline. Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information gathered from observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication as a guide to belief and action. Therefore, critical thinking should be encouraged. Self-discipline plays a big role in academic success. Students with self-discipline are most likely to do more homework, study, and spend less time watching television.
