There are many different pioneers that have a philosophy and theories that had an impact. The education today and their theories are based on developing children 's skills in a perfect environment. However, there are three pioneers in education that most influence the education these days: Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Fridrich Froebel, and Maria Montessori.
First, Jean-Jacques Rousseau focused on the child 's freedom and learn in nature. Now we can find schools that focus on the child 's freedom and independence. When Wes A moved to Bronx, his mother had made a decision to send her children to private school after her seeing how poor the public school system had become, so she worked multiple jobs to manage the cost and relied on her parents to take care the children before and after school while at work. “My mother decided soon after our move to the Bronx that I was not going to public school. She wasn’t a snob, she was scared.”(47) Because she knew, if the children are growth of a bad education environment, the children of the world to know nature will be distorted. A famous Swiss educator, Rousseau was considered to raise the Copernican Revolution after he came up with a theory “children-centered”. In his famous book Emile, he severely criticized rigid and inflexible traditional education which seriously distorted and suppressed the natural world of children. Me and my siblings were at home. Jewel and Chris is there name. Jewel and Chris were watching fairly odd parents and my father was at work. I was making breakfast for my siblings and my grandma was asleep.My grandma slept through everything and even my father thought she was dead. I was in the kitchen when I heard the phone.
We went ahead and shopped for some souvenirs. I believe I my mom bought me a Batman tee shirt, along with a few other things I could not recall. Then I saw a store that sold candy. Walking in I saw a diverse variety of sweets, and they had everything from chocolate to lollipops. My eye caught a little container full of gummy worms, and I decided to a bag full of them. Once my mom purchased the candy, we began to head out. I remember walking next to my father. When suddenly, boom! I ran into a ginormous window, and my dad walked through the door. My parents and the young lady working the cash register began to laugh. My mom said, "Are you okay?", "Yes, I am fine.” I said. She looked at my forehead, and she noticed I had a small bruise. My mom thought it best that we sat down for a few minutes. I thought we should go on another roller coaster. We ended up getting on The Superman Krypton
Personally, being an educator gives me a chance to have a great impact on the world. I have always enjoyed seeing the look on someone’s face when they make a new connection or learn something. I have many strong beliefs in the education process and many times feel that the needs of the student are overlooked. As a teacher, the students would be priority and that is the backbone of my teaching philosophy. I know that I am not very experienced and have much to learn. This I will strive to do throughout my education and even when I enter the teacher workforce.
While learning about Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), historical trauma, and Ricky Greenwald’s “Who helped you and how?” from the Child Trauma Handbook, I felt my knowledge on trauma work grow and expand.
Childhood trauma can have a profound impact on the social development of adults. Childhood trauma victims should be handled with care by social work professionals when they are seeking assistance to resolve disruptions in their life that stem from devastating events of their past. The level of care that this population needs to receive should involve utilization of well-developed practice considerations to ensure problem areas are being appropriately addressed. The presence of physical, psychological, personality, mental health disruptions are compelling area that should be needs to be examined amongst childhood trauma survivors. The in depth inspection of these different areas will reveal how the social development of this population is affected
I spent some time looking back upon my time in elementary, junior high and high school and thinking about all of my favorite teachers, and what exactly made them such outstanding, inspiring educators. I came to several conclusions. A good teacher is one who can not only show a student how to add four and seven, but also help them see why it is important for them to know how to do so. A good teacher is one who can explain to a child the process of photosynthesis while at the same time instilling an appreciation for the beauty of a flower. A good teacher is one who can accept and cherish a hug from a child and conveniently overlook the muddy handprints left on her skirt. I feel that successful teaching is made of several components that build upon and complement each other. Love and discipline, understanding and encouragement, and patience and persistence constitute a pyramid for the educational process.
Play and speech constitute the element in which the child lives, therefore imparting on objects everything that he imagines representing his inner being outwardly imputing the same activity to all about him. Thus, in German Kindergarten, Froebel opened to the outside world of children the inner nature of the human spirit, through child-play as the highest phase of human development.
As a school counselor, my mission is to help students learn about themselves and develop in three areas; personal/social, education, and career. I believe that every student has a gift that was given by God and my goal is to help students identify those gifts and purse those gifts to become successful students and citizens.
When I was younger, all my friends wanted to be teachers. So, I decided at a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher too. As the years went on, I got more serious about actually being a teacher. Many people in my family have been teachers and I always thought it was something I would enjoy. Through being a junior leader in 4-H, I have had the opportunity to work with many young children. Every year at 4-H camp, I come home with a new little brother or sister. When I first wanted to be a teacher, I didn’t really think about what kind of teacher I wanted to be. Through many years of deliberation, deep thought, and exploring my options, I have narrowed down my profession to elementary education. I think that by being an elementary education teacher I will be living a fulfilling and worthwhile life. I feel that I can make a difference and help shape the lives of our youth.
Pestalozzi, Froebel, and Rousseau made major contributions to education through their ideas and methods. Many of these thought and philosophies are important to me in my current views of students and education, influencing the kind of teacher I aspire to be and the methods I plan to put in place.
Ever since a long time ago, adolescents had always been taught by teachers in several different ways. Since, every teacher has their own belief in a certain type of philosophy because not everyone is the same. As well as, there is no right way for a teacher to teach with their specific philosophy since, each child has their own way of learning. On a few occasions a student will appreciate other philosophies that my classmates did not infer to have had in their survey they had taken. Depending on the type of philosophy the teacher uses on the students shapes the way the classroom.
After reading the section “Philosophies of Education,” I believe that learning, learners, and teaching needs to to be interactive, that students learn best when their lessons are active, challenging and relevant in their world and that they learn through experience. Teaching would include less textbooks, more hands-on activities and the use of technology in the classroom. To be an effective teacher, we need to understand how children learn and realize that not all will fit into one mold and we shouldn 't expect them to either, they need to think for themselves and draw their own conclusions.
