Why kids should have cellphones at school. Even though kids at school can’t use their phone during class, they shouldn't ban them, although they're a distraction in class because, students could use their phones to check facts, use a dictionary, and make presentations. Felissa thought that having cellphones at school was good for looking up facts for her history board. Another reason kids should have cell phones at school is because students can check facts. Both students and teachers can now find facts within seconds. This can be very useful when explaining and debating. Yes, it is understandable that cell phones are a distraction, but cell phones can be used as a valuable tool. On KQED MindShift (and reposted here on MediaShift), Audrey Watters argued for cell phones in the classroom because they (or at least smartphones) are powerful research tools. So it stands to reason that using phones in class will help students look up facts.
