Coming up through highschool and college, students have always been taught with textbooks. That was the only way students were able to get their education. No one ever thought that the way of learning would evolve. Then, technology blew up. The iPod came out, the mp3 players, and many more. People were able to listen to books they downloaded onto their iPod wherever they wanted. It affected people outside of school, but schools did not let it affect how teachers taught their students. Still went with the traditional textbook. Technology kept growing; it grew so much schools had to start incorporating technology into the learning. Students having their phones in class is truly a good resource for finding more information they need by just searching it up on the internet instead of trying to find a book on that certain topic. If schools go straight technology, they could use the money they used on textbooks and put it toward something else such as; security, better school lunches, etc. If they wanted to, they could buy more tablets or computers for students so they could have more. A New York Times writer, Carm. A wrote, textbooks are getting so expensive for college students. For college students in the years 2015-2016, the College Board averaged that it cost over $1,000 for textbooks. The price in textbooks from 10 years ago has gone up almost 90% (Carms, A). College students are going to be in debt and adding books is going to be more difficult for students to pay this off. The statistics show that textbooks are going to get more and more expensive and college students won’t want to pay that. That will lead to borrowing them off their roommates, stealing from someone or from the school store. For the schools, it will be more cost effective and save them money. With students trying to save money, the textbook and technology companies need to work together on working together to make this work for both of them to make money but still get their product out. Students want to find the cheapest way to get their textbooks. Nowadays, this generation consist of using technology. It seems textbooks companies and technology companies have came up with a solution. For example, one recent study said,
