Adolf Hitler came into power of Germany in 1934. Wanting power, land and revenge, Hitler gets troops ready to attack. Hitler was a troop in WWI for Germany. Once the Germans lost the war, Hitler took that personally, and wanted revenge. After coming into power with his army of Nazis, Hitler is quick to blame Jewish people for all the harsh debt and corruption in Germany. The Germans believe him, causing them to hate Jewish people. The holocaust happened throughout 1933-1945, it ended when Hitler killed himself.
This genocide was mainly against the Jewish people. However Hitler also targeted homosexuals, and members of many other ethnical groups to be sent to concentration death camps. All of these actions are being carried out under the control of Adolf Hitler.

Jewish citizens and families are being sent to these camps, held there forced to do work. They are put in chambers where multiple people, large groups and families are gassed with Zyklon B, and are left for dead. Nazis are sent to kidnap Jewish people right out of their houses to send them to these camps. Others were also just shot and killed on the spot. The jewish people tried to resist, but it is difficult with lack of weapons and resources. Hitler was trying to gain power and land from this genocide. Most can agree that one of the biggest catastrophes in the world. Though no one bothers to ask who was responsible. The most common response is that Hitler was the perpetrator, which is true to a degree but the responsibility isn't his and only his. There were many chances for people to help Jewish people in their time of need but nothing was done. It’s easy to say that measures should have been taken to protects the Jews though when it came to act on them many were bystanders. The Holocaust was a mass genocide a killing of a mass number of people froma a certain race or group. Since Hitler wanted to kill the undesirables he made camp to put them in and then they would be killed or they would suffer in one way or another. Once a person was killed in the camps they would cremate them so they wouldn't have dead bodies laying around everywhere. People in the camps were killed by Nazi soliders shooting them, being burned to death, starving, or being killed by sickness. A lot of people would die from dieases like scabies. Most people would contract scabies or lice because the camps were very dirty and they were so cramped so sickness spread quickly. Another way of the undesirables being killed were gas chambers. The Nazi's would tell them they were going to take them to shower but in reality they were taking them to the gas chambers tho kill them. People would suffer in the gas chambers because the gas would slowly kill them.
The Jewish people were targeted, hunted, tortured, and killed, just for being Jewish, Hitler came to office on January 20, 1933; he believed that the German race had superiority over the Jews in Germany. The Jewish peoples’ lives were destroyed; they were treated inhumanly for the next 12 years, “Between 1933 and 1945, more than 11 million men, women, and children were murdered in the Holocaust. Approximately six million of these were Jews” (Levy). It all started with the poor social and economic status of Germany in the 1920’s. Most of the country couldn’t even afford simple things like food and water. This was due to the Treaty of Versailles from World War 1 were it stated 4 conditions. These conditions were that Germany must have a small army, they must pay $6.6 billion for retribution from World War 1, a lot of their land was taken away and they had to accept the blame for World War 1. This made the people of Germany very angry and they thought that it was too harsh. In January 1933 Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany. He swore to rip up the treaty and secretly began to build up Germany’s army. Whilst Hitler was Chancellor he segregated the Jewish population from the rest of society, they were seen as a ‘deformity on the body politic’ and were feared by the German middle class, this was due to Hilter’s use of propaganda. Causes of the Holocaust The Holocaust took place for a number of reasons, some of which were long term and short term. The main reasons are for centuries. Germany was an anti-Semitic country Jews were used as scapegoats. for the German problems. Also centuries of Nazi persecution caused the Holocaust in particular.
What is genocide? “Genocide is a deliberate, systematic destruction of racial cultural or political groups.”(Feldman 29) What is the Holocaust? “Holocaust, the period between 1933-1945 when Nazi Germany systematically persecuted and murdered millions of Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, and many other people.”(Feldman 29) These two things tie into each other.The Holocaust was a genocide. Many innocent people were torn apart from their families, for many never to see them again. This murder of the “Jewish people of Europe began in spring 1941.”( Feldman 213) The Holocaust was one of the most harshest things done to mankind.
Hitler’s plans for Germany were both meaningless and cruel. His first goal was to establish what he thought was the ‘supreme’ race, Aryan. Aryan people are tall and skinny, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and light skin (FYI: Hitler had none of these characteristics, and rumor has it that his grandmother was Jewish.). Every other person was not considered human to him, especially Jewish people. Hitler hated Jewish people the most because he thought that because of their beliefs and living style they lost World War I. Also according to Hitler, Jews were maggots, parasites, vampire spiders sucking blood, and vermin. Hitler thought it was not enough to only eliminate the ‘enemies’ of the Aryan race, but they also needed space to live. This is when his second goal came into play. He started relocating them, starving them, shutting down their shops and many more things. The worst part was that he lied to them when he said they were relocating them, he was really taking them to concentration camps.

The Nazi party got a lot of electoral votes that year in the government, and started creating propaganda against the Jews; they blamed the Jews for the terrible things happening in Germany at the time. Some of the propaganda the Nazi party made were pictures of Jews pointing out what makes them Jewish and their distinctive traits, so you can spot them. They also put the Star of David on all Jews clothing, so they could easily be spotted in public.
