When a baby is born it brings joy to another life. With its fragile fingers to its tiny toes, each breath unknowingly stretches a smile across its mothers face. The nine lengthy months of lugging around extra weight and craving the oddest snacks turn into years of watching the child grow. As a child blossoms, it learns and grasps onto aspects. Yet there are a select few who learn faster. Those whose minds collect everything and use it to their advantage. Those are the ones that become successful in life and know their destiny. Not everyone is granted the gift to be inspirational, knowledgeable, and revolutionary. Disney was one of the most systematic beings in the history of successful people. “For parents, the Disney enterprises often serve as a symbol for proper, decent, respectable entertainment for their children characterized by a down-to-earth, ingenuous sweetness that epitomizes conventional family values.” (Hinchey 2) We can see that Disney valued his customers opinions and wanted to make sure that his productions were fit for his consumers. While working on projects throughout the years, Disney always had a sense of awareness for pieces that were to be published in his name. “Ub Iwerks had had occasional contretemps with Walt over the years, not least because of Walt's lifelong habit of wandering around the studio after hours snooping through his animators' work and on occasion making changes.” (Grant 2) In this quote we are given just a bit of insight on how much Disney cared about his work. As a young child Disney had many interests mainly in the arts. He went from drawing to animation to acting. He kept learning new things and ended up being very successful when he combined all three of those things. He had people not like his stuff, steal his films, and had the majority of his workers protest and quit. All of these things would of been good reasons for him to stop, but of course Disney did not for he was obsessed with being the best. Walt Disney created Disneyland on July 17, 1955, and from this date it was deemed, “The Happiest Place on Earth.” Nearly every child today knows what Disney is and what it represents: imagination. Not all children have the privilege to go to Disneyland, but with the different movies and TV shows now circulating the world, Disney has made an impression on our youth, in the best possible way. Disney represents our children's imagination, creativity, hope, dreams, and debatably the most important one: family bonding time. Walt Disney’s Snow White was one of the first movies to produce retail products, that were distributed before the film release in order to maximize profit, giving Walt Disney the appearance of creating the marketing strategy. One of the most prominent methods of advertising that Disney used, was advertisements directed towards the children alone. For example, when a child would watch Disney’s television show, they would become enveloped and fascinated by what they saw. This would lead to the children asking for their own “little piece of Disney” at home. He took the old stories from Europe, created his own versions that he thought were better, and created some of his films from them. The building of Disneyland was a literal dream come true for Disney. He had financial backing from ABC because of the Mickey Mouse Club. Disney was able to create a fantasy world for both children and adults. Disneyland allowed people to immerse themselves in the world of their favorite cartoons and Disney movies instead of just viewing them on the big screen. Disney based his Disneyland’s “Main Street USA” from the streets of small-town America, most buildings from downtown Marceline, Missouri. He did research for his park design there in 1946. Walt Disney is the greatest entrepreneur of all time in most minds of little people and big people everywhere. The reason for this is he started his ‘business’, selling sketches, at the age of around seven years old. He was a vibrant child, as well considering he painted the side of his barn with tar. To him schoolwork was boring which he actually said once he was a lot older. Walt Disney was a family man, considering he had so many children; his children even had lots of children. Walt Disney was a man with a lot of talent, character, and imagination, who deeply loved fairy tales.

The Disney corporation is easily the greatest empire of entertainment in the world, thanks to the creator Walt Disney and his brother. Disney’s influence has been great within culture and society and I learned how much of an influence Disney has had through our course this semester. This influence is reflected and broadcast through the many works and readings that we examine in class. The articles gave me new knowledge about Disney that I was previously unaware of.

The company has shaped entertainment for the world, creating new forms of entertainment including animations, children movies, colored films, and musical movies. These forms of entertainment have brought joy in some shape or form to their fans.
