Technical Communication in my term is the way we interact with non-living objects. This includes Bank Machines, Mobil Devices, or just simple instructions for technology. According to Laura J. Gurak and John M. Lanno reading "Strategies for Technical Communication in the Workplace" says "Technical communication is the exchange of information that helps people interact with technology, advance workplace goals, and solve complex problems" (Gurak, Lannon 3). We deal with technical communication on a daily basis, at work, home, or even going out to eat. Without technical communication, our lives would be tedious. We would spend more time doing something than it should really be. Writing an essay is my least favorite thing to do, but if there is something that I learned about writing is seeing it from the reader's point of view than the authors. Surprisingly I learned this in my speech class, it taught to understand how to talk to the audience and what the audience is trying to listen to. The main writing/speech technique I've learned the most was the persuasive speech. Here there are five steps you take into consideration when writing a speech like this. The problem, Reasoning for the problem, three actions to take, the possible outcome, and conclusion. Each step you must take into consideration how the audience will react, or understand what you are saying. You want to make sure how the audience will feel about your topic, and when the appropriate time to ask for the actions. This is all part of Technical Communication. Specifically, for a Web designer, they have to explain what each button does and what will happen next after activating that button. When it comes to team projects, they are my least favorite thing to do, but I do learn a lot from other and how to cope with the next team base project. The first time I had to do a team-based project was freshman year of college. It was the pumpkin drop challenge. I was for sure that our team would fail because we didn't have strong communication and one didn't even communicate until the last day and thought he was going to get credit. Surprisingly we won out all of the groups, and pumpkin manages not bust but also float away from our original drop. I think a lot of had to do with our quick planning and agreeing on all on one thing. Making sure each person brought something to contribute whether it failed or not we gave our best. I think this textbook will show me different ways of technical communication in a way I never thought of. Reading these topics gives me new ways to approach writing. I like that they approach about hard-copy sources vs Online sources and the negative, positives to each
