In English, a single word may have many meanings; it differs as per the situation. There is a huge difference between a word used by common man and businessman. For instance, credit is the most frequent word used by business people. When a common man uses this word credit, that word means something different like praising someone or thanking people. So now-a-days, in many colleges, business English has been teaching. That will be helpful for students those who want to become successful businessman in this world. This study used 40 academic staff at Anadolu University who were getting an intensive English course in order to take a proficiency exam. In addition, two intermediate-level classes were also used. There was an experimental group and a control group. The subjects were not assigned randomly. Each group had 20 examinees. The experimental group received visual stimuli and keywords, but the control groups only received vocabulary in a list form, and were asked to memorize them. Results from this research indicate that the keyword method is proved to be effective in recalling and comprehension performance. In order to enhance their vocabulary, to improve their comprehension of the text, students much first have background knowledge of basic definitions that will help them connect and build new vocabulary with former vocabulary. The students must also have the ability to look at the context of an unfamiliar word and be able to decipher the meaning based on the words or phrases that surround it. The foundational skills of accomplishing this is through studying early fundamental vocabulary words and then connecting new words with priorly known words of similar meaning. There are a plural of words that I did not understand. So, by finding the definition of the meaning of the word, I recognized that most of every words have the different context, I have to understand very clear of it to be able to apply those words correctly. For example, while reading the book, the article or any magazine and newspaper, if I don’t understand any words, I would continue to read further to find the context of the words that the author may describe on the rest of the paragraph. Even though, if I cannot find the meaning of the words, I will look up in the dictionary to the correct context that fit in the paragraph. Vocabulary is critical in communicating anything and informing others. Vocabulary is the words we use to phrase sentences; that are our thoughts. “We think in words. The more words you know, the more thoughts you can have." Our vocabularies consist of many words, so many thoughts we can have. These vocabularies, our words, can be very useful in stating ideas, raising questions, and describing objects or events. An individual’s vocabulary is the words or signs of their language that they are familiar enough with to understand and or use. Acquiring a large vocabulary is indispensable to comprehension and communication. Of the many different vocabulary banks one person can reference, the two most relevant are receptive and active.
