Learning a second language can be very fun and it can help you in many ways. But unfortunately there aren't many foreign language options in Valley Center schools. And we think that should be changed. No matter whether it’s French, Spanish, German, Russian, or Chinese, all languages can be beneficial for you to learn. Valley Center needs more language classes, because foreign languages can help you to interact with people from other countries, enhance your vocabulary, and, most importantly, get a better job in the future.
You can interact with a lot of people from other countries by learning a second language. "Americans who travel abroad for the first time are often shocked to discover that, despite all the progress that has been made in the last 30 years, many foreign people still speak in foreign languages," (Barry "Why Should I Learn a Language?"). Having a foreign pen pal can help you with your translation of the other language. You can interact with them daily and they can help you learn their language and you can teach them yours. In fact this says..in russian, привет! меня зовут Эмма, и это приятно встретиться с вами. ( hello! my name is emma and it is nice to meet you. ) You would know exactly what that says if you spoke Russian, but 1.9 million out of the 313.9 million living in the USA only speak English (Badger "Where 60 Million People in the U.S. Don't Speak English at Home").
You can further improve your vocabulary by learning another language. "The more languages you know, the more you are human," (Masaryk "Why Should I Learn a Language?"). If you have had a background of language classes you will have it easier in the long run. Improving your vocabulary will improve your life in many ways. And on...

...class. But I also don't think this would be a problem, since it wouldn't be hard to get students to sign up for an alternate language class because I'm sure a lot of students at Valley Center would like to learn another language besides Spanish.
As you can see, you can greatly enhance your life in a lot of ways by learning a second language, such as communicating with people from other countries, expanding your vocabulary, and it will help open more doors to greater jobs in the future. And it's not just benificial for students to learn another language, it can be beneficial for every one. It will open up more doors for people in the future. Whether it's here in the US or other parts of the world, learning a second language can be very beneficial for you to learn. So, we should get more language classes here in Valley Center schools to help benefit the students.
After viewing the panel discussion about how our local school districts have implemented English Language Learning in their school, I am very intrigued. From what I gathered the field of ELL is a growing industry in education, especially in Colorado Springs. We have ELL’s students coming from all over the world. Here in Colorado Springs alone, school districts have to accommodate for over fifty different languages spoken by ELL’s. I can only imagine the challenge that comes with such a diverse group of non- English speakers in our community schools.
Speaking to someone in their native language is a great complement to that person. Most people do not care enough to learn the language of the country they are visiting. Some travelers expect the people to already know their language to the place that their traveling to. This being said, the ones who actually know the language to the place that they are traveling to, can hold a special place in the local heart. If a child grows up learning two languages, he/she will have a greater appreciation for, not just one, but both languages that they grew up learning, knowing and respecting. This can also be beneficial for school, homework, and tests. If that child knows both English and Spanish, and if they are discussing something that is related to Spanish, like history, that child could be interested since he/she g...
Exposing children to different cultures is necessary, and our culture needs to face that soon. It is proven that foreign language study can create more positive attitudes and less prejudice toward different cultures, which shows just how important foreign language really is (Latimer). Additionally, international travel is made a lot simpler (Latimer). Not to mention, speaking a foreign language can help to save money and improve a person's overall experience during their travels. Plus, foreign language can lead to appreciation of cultural diversity, which is much needed in
When we asked these teachers whether they supported or were against the bilingual education system, they each shouted their answer as if it were instinctive. Although they had different reasons why, each and every one of the teachers said they supported the system without a doubt. We were given a multitude of reasons why bilingual education is advantageous. Ms. Velez stated that she supports bilingual education because, first and foremost, she is a product of it, and second because she believes the program allows the children to earn credit and learn the language at the same time. She said that if the non-English speaking child were immersed in the English mainstream classes they will fail, and as a result the already high drop out rate of Latinos would increase. Ms. Harrison felt that the bilingual education program would be even stronger and more effective if it served more of the ethnic groups in Hartford. The Vietnamese, Lao, and Albanian students are often put in transitional classes because there are not enough in that particular ethnic group to create a bilingual class that will help them to learn English, while maintaining their primary language. Presently, the state requires twenty students who need assistance in the same language to hire a teacher to create a class for them. She also stated that the students in bilingual education classes have just as many difficulties in academics as do the students in mainstream education, and that the bilingual education program is often used as a scapegoat for those students not achieving.
In all, it is important for students of all abilities to learn a foreign language. Not only

There are many things wrong with the world right now and that does not exclude the US, while there are many issues with dealing with an increasingly global society but none of them are as easy to fix and as urgent reforming language education. Although it is important for language to be standardized so that we can all understand each other, the state of language education is holding back non-native and native speakers alike.
Being able to speak more than one language is proving to be a valuable skill in modern society. Many children across the world are at least bilingual, leaving many American parents wondering if they too, should learn to speak another language. While this debate remains ongoing, many adults are seeking to learn a second language either to communicate with a new client base or to attain higher status within a corporate setting.
Language may vary reflecting the historic, demographic, economic and political factors unique to a region. While all cultures revolve around a language and all languages are insufficient to fulfill all communicative cultures, bilingual has emerged for the better perception looking towards world. When we learn to speak a different language; we learn to see a bigger world. Bilingual education has become an umbrella to expand into courses in the areas that focuses on the theoretical foundations and methods of language arts often used to refer to “program designed for language minority students.” (Feinberg 1).
This being said, a problem exists. Only 44% of high school students are currently enrolled in foreign language classes. While Spanish comprises 69% and French makes up additional 18% of their enrollment (Department of Education). Less than 1% combined of these students study languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Japanese, Korean, and Russian. During George W. Bush’s presidency, Bush addressed the issue and determined that the United States needs more ...
Speaking a language other than your mother tongue opens a door onto the world. Becoming proficient in a foreign tongue equates to a wider range of options in love, career, and friendships.
Although some people believe the entire world should speak English, the reality is that all Americans should have some degree of formal education in a foreign language. Foreign language skills could have a positive impact on race relations in America. The number of minorities in America is rapidly increasing. In fact, "minority" groups will soon form a collective "majority" of the citizens of America. Considering the fact that many minority groups speak English as a second language and America has no official language, compulsory foreign language classes are viable options.
Therefore, this is able to encourage the ability to communicate and appreciate the depth and diversity of the world. Communication with two different countries, or three, or four, will further bring the world closer together, in hopes of closing the divide between some countries. By learning a second language, it can significantly broaden your native language as it gives you stronger vocabulary skills, improved literacy skills and a better understanding of the grammar and construction of your own native language. Furthermore, this can help you in other educational studies. Though it is possible to travel to another country without acquiring the native language, the experience you will have is greatly diminished as you will not see beyond the surface of their culture. Additionally, knowing the native language makes travelling easier, by being able to order meals in restaurants, ask and understand directions. Additionally, it makes it easier to find accommodation, it’s more enjoyable, informative and more satisfying. You are able to further understand and appreciate international literature, music and films, by being able to understand word plays, innuendoes, cultural references, metaphors and further improve your ability to speak the
It’s hard to deny that multilinguals tend to make more friends than unilingual people do. Multilingual ability allows people to make not only local friends, but also foreign ones. To multilingual speakers,
