People today use technology in their daily lives. It helps us to make our life easier and more relaxing. One of the most used said technologies we use are SOCIAL MEDIA. What exactly are social media? There like a system for us to communicate with each other they are also computer-mediated tools that allow people to create, share or exchange information, career interests, ideas, and pictures/videos in virtual communities and networks. Social media is defined as "a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content.

Social media differ from traditional or industrial media in many ways, including quality, reach, frequency, and usability. So in my opinion I really do think that social media would enhance our mental and social capabilities.

We would be able to know if social media has the effects to increase our mental and social capabilities. When we finally understand how, why and when these effects occur we would be able to see social media in different light but there is always the chance that social media does not increase our mental and social capabilities but only to decrease it. I assume that people would get smarter and sociable by the means of social media because in the first place its purpose was to ensure that the people’s communication was not limited. There is also a possibility that the people would get smarter through social media.

I think that social media has the potential to enhance ones mental and social capabilities.

According to Sherry Turkle (2011)” People today are more connected to one another than ever before in human history, thanks to Internet-based social networking sites and text messaging. But they’re also more lonely and distant from one another in their unplugged” with our technology today we can do lot of things but also at the same time we lose something important along the way that make us human for example our sociability. We think and give priority more to our online relationships and sometimes forget our true relationships with our friends and family. Facebook or Instagram: passively or actively” this means that people who uses social media a lot are lonely in the inside they try to forget about what is really happening around them and try to escape to the illusion of social
