Summary about the Nursing Theories

This paper summarizes about the nursing theories applied in nursing practice based on literature reviews. It will help to generate further nursing knowledge. Nursing theory can help patients, managers and other healthcare professionals to recognize the unique contribution that nurses make to the healthcare service.

The First stage is introducing the paper. The Second stage is the body of paper which consists of six different articles from pages three to ten. Each article starts with brief description about the study following with concise review of the selected theories: Peplau’s theory of interpersonal relations, Imogene king goal attainment theory, Watson’s theory of caring, Roy adaptation model and Orem’s self-care theory. It states the reasons for using the nursing theory and also describes how that theory was used by the author in the study. The author in the article also illustrates the results of the study conducted. The article ends with providing how that particular theory can be used in my nursing administrative practice. The Last stage is summarizing the paper and listing the references in alphabetical order.

Mariani (2007) examined the effects of mentoring on career and to explore the relationship between career satisfaction and intent to stay in the nursing profession. Peplau’s theory of interpersonal relations was used as a framework for this study. The main goal of the theory was to incorporate existing theories of interpersonal relations into a nursing model which focused on person to person interaction.
