Before applying to Stanstead College I was attending public school in New Jersey. I did not use my time wisely and I did not have a very good work ethic. When I came to Stanstead it was like a hitting a brick wall (a splash of reality) because I needed to manage my time and start a better work ethic. College is a wonderful experience that only a few get to expose to. Any four year university offers a great opportunity for anyone; either for the diverse rich culture college campuses offer, or the hundreds of organizations and the thousands of connections that can offer one person. In the real world today a college degree is almost “required” for any career or a good stable job. Few necessities in America are cheap or free. For example: water, health insurance, and welfare are just to name a few. Public education is on this list of free necessities in America. Coming from a person who went through the public education system for 14 years, I loved my experience and did not take it for granted. And post high school, I intend apply to the State University of New York of Canton. While attending SUNY Canton, I’ll earn an AAS in criminal justice. The acceptance rate at SUNY Canton is 87%, thus I won’t have to worry about getting rejected. During my Junior year of high school, I started looking at nursing schools, and after comparing many nursing schools, the school that caught my eye was Clarkson College due to the fact that they have a lot to offer to the students. Clarkson has a one of a kind nursing program that will help me thrive as a nurse. A big factor for me in a nursing program is having a small class size to be able to have a closer relationship with my professor/instructor. I felt like my parents thought I was so stupid because i didn’t get in. Day after day, I kept asking myself, “What did i do wrong?”. Everyday i thought, maybe i shouldn't even be in eighth grade because i was supposed to be in seventh grade because i was born in 2002. I felt to stupid and dumb that i just kept thinking that over and over again. When people mentioned SHC at all i would start to tear up. Or when people asked me if i got in or not. I tried all the time to not bawl my eyes out in front of them. I got into Mercy but I didn't really care about that school. I had a friend that is a sophomore now and I think that she told me that she was waitlisted and got in and that gave me a little bit more hope. I was so ready to just go to Wallenburg even though I completely hated that school so much. I just wanted to push on and keep going just Like Odysseus. Even though he had lost everyone and his hope, he still kept pushing on and didn’t give up because he was still determined to reach his goal to get back home to his wife. My goal was to eventually somehow go to SHC.

I have known for some time that I have always wanted to be a nurse. Therefore, in April 2007 I enrolled in a program to become a certified nurse’s aide and earned my New York state certification in July 2007. I began working immediately at a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in November 2007; I also began working in a hospital starting April 2015. Being employed at both facilities is what led me to fall in love with a career in nursing, all while allowing me to gain a wonderful amount of experience caring for a diverse population as well as working with a diverse population of health care professionals.
What makes me like most others seeking acceptance into your program is a strong desire to help others, excellent grades and evidence of my interest through experience. What separates me from other applicants is my independence, self-confidence and my sense of adventure, all qualities I have developed through my experiences as a Division 1 collegiate athlete. Volleyball has taught me how to simultaneously be a leader and a teammate. It has taught me how to achieve, with grace, both success and defeat. Headed off to college, I thought I knew what I wanted. I thought the school I chose would be the school I would find my major in, a niche with best friends, and the four year experience I would fall in love with. My experience so far at William Penn University has been a roller coaster ride. It has had its ups and downs similar to any other new experience to a person. As a freshman it takes some adjusting to get used to the style, especially when I have had the support from my parents for a long time. One thing you must know is when I receiving a acceptance into the college my life was just begun to be stressful. The first problem that comes to mind is financial aid. Financial aid provides you with the ability to continue your education at a college within your choice but, what I didn’t understand was how the aid was being process to help me. As an example, the college I attend was like taking trips back and forth, It was quite of a distance. Some of the papers that they asked for was either incomplete or certain information was missing.
