Virginia is married and has a daughter who is under 2. She loves anything family related. She loves to cook, paint and crochet. She enjoys the beach, coffee, reading, watching General Hospital and the woods. She likes to hunt deer, turkey, and pheasant to provide food for her family. Her goals are to finish school and potentially move on to be an RN. She hasn’t always wanted to be in the medical field, she first wanted to own her own small restaurant. Although Virginia doesn’t agree with abortion, she believes there are some circumstances where abortion is ok. She thinks one circumstance is if a women is raped and may not want to bring a child into the world out of hate for being raped and having such a traumatic event. A women has had enough damage done to her and she should not feel like she needs to bring an unwanted baby in to her life. Rape can cause problems during pregnancy, with negative consequences for the mother and the child. Keeping the baby can create psychological problems for both mother and child. If a woman decides to keep and raise the child, she may have difficulty accepting the baby. The child can end up harmed or with psychological issues that stem from the mother’s upbringing of the child. Some children have been killed by their mothers because mothers could not accept the child. Some men rape young girls and they become pregnant. Being a young and pregnant has many medical risks. They can have high blood pressure, anemia, preeclampsia, low birth weights or premature birth. It can also lead to depression. The young girl may not want to tell their parents in fear of feeling unwanted/accepted. “In addition to increased health risks, children born to teenage mothers are more likely to experience social, emotional, and other problems. These problems may include the following: Children born to teenage mothers are less likely to receive proper nutrition, health care, and cognitive and social stimulation.
