Sam’s Mexican Restaurant Bar Inc. doing business as a Family Restaurant and Bar
106 School Street
Yonkers, New York 10701
Serial No. 1277692 – Application for On-premises Retail License
Statement for 500 Foot Hearing
Zone 1 Office of New York State Liquor Authority

Background of the Premises
Sam’s Mexican Restaurant Bar Inc. is located near the Center of Yonkers. The proposed premise is located near the corner of Celli Place and School Street and has been used as a restaurant since 2000. Adjacent businesses on this block include mostly auto body shops and auto part stores.

Positive Impact
Over these past years our Restaurant has provided the customers with a variety of Hispanic food. We do not only serve Mexican dishes but also recipes from Central America. Including our Salvadorian food called Pupusas. This has always been a family environment and our neighbors from above and around us always enjoy coming because they always feel welcomed. The reason why I, Mirna Arias, would like to obtain a liquor license is to fulfill the customers wants. Many families want to come in to enjoy a glass of wine, liquor, or beer accompanied with their food.

The number, classes and character of licenses in proximity to the location and in the particular municipality
The Applicant’s address is 106 School Street. This building is a three-story masonry with family dwelling above. This commercial property has been operating as a restaurant and bar since 2000.
It is undisputed that there are more than three (3) on-premises establishments within 500 feet of the proposed premises. However, the neighborhood is mostly residential, the vicinity within 500 not styled or operating as our bar or restaurant. D’Obsession Lounge Corp. within ...

...parking are not a concern within the community. The premises are also easily accessible by public transportation.

Noise level at the location
The premise is only indoors. The ambient noise level after 11 pm would be negligible since the restaurant only has light background music playing for its customers from a jukebox. The premise does not feature live music. Again it is stressed that I am operating a restaurant with a bar business, not a nightclub. There is no dancing or even a dance floor at the restaurant.

Activity at the proposed premises
I will offer a safer and cleaner experience and try to avoid disturbances, any violence, any fighting, crime, any noise, and litter. Our business will be owner operated. It is a family establishment. The owners will be on the premises 55 hours each for the week. There is currently no evidence of problems in the neighborhood.
