It is the responsibility for teachers to create a healthy learning environment that is physically, emotionally and intellectually safe, clean and secure for all children. I believe effective classrooms are places where children feel well cared for and safe. They are places where children should be valued as individuals and where their needs for attention, approval, and affection are supported. They are also places where children can be helped to acquire a strong foundation of / for the knowledge and skills needed for school success. Effective teachers and child care providers: Plan activities that have a purpose and that challenge children, know how to help children learn to work together and to resolve their conflicts. Know how to set up and maintain order for a classroom, but in a way that permits the children to learn how to take part in and enjoy learning. I chose the lesson …show more content…

I listened to each student as they told me what they would do if left in this situation. Being three years-old is a very young age, I was very proud of the children for being able to concentrate and stay focus on the lesson that was being taught, I told all the children to practice with their parents or siblings while at home. I also gave home letters to the parents on the importance of practicing how to dial “911” and practicing fire safety techniques. Some parents also participated in the lesson plan with their children. The children learned new words such as “operator”, “telephone” and “emergency”. The children also assisted in the decisions about when to call “911” and the proper way to report a fire or medical emergency. Three years-olds are very different from three years-olds twenty years ago, this group of children learned very quickly with this particular lesson plan.
