Whistling and clicking of the tongue is how most people call a dog to get it’s attention. If that’s so, then how come 38 percent of women are whistled at monthly, and almost 95 percent at least once? Why is okay to use behaviors that humans reserve for dogs on women? Street harassment is a serious issue that needs to be stop, and although many men think a catcall is a compliment for many women it’s uncomfortable and threatening.
Street harassment affects women’s lives more than people think. Because of street harassment women are constantly on guard and fearful on the streets. According to online survey by Stop Street Harassment, 62 percent of women are constantly checking their surrounding and 69 percent of women avoid making eye contact with others.

In same survey, women said that they often cross the street or take different routes to avoid harassers. They also avoid going out at night or being alone. Everyone should be able to feel safe on the street and be able to use public spaces without the fear of being harassed on the street. This is the reason why street harassment needs to be stop.
If street harassment makes women so uncomfortable why do men think it’s okay? One answer is that it is men don’t see anything wrong with it. In response to a question asking what motivates street harassment Kareem Watkins said, “A lot of times it 's like pressure amongst men to like, you know, put on a show in front of each other,” in other words that women are just a competition for men. He go on to blame the victim by saying, “Did her mom tell her how to wear that? It 's all about how you 're raised… Women get treated the way they allow themselves to get treated." It never occurs to him that how someone dresses does not give you the right to yell obscene comments at them. 25 year old, Marcus Jeffries, continues with the theme of objectifying women and responds, "Men prey on women, unfortunately, because women [have] things that men want” (CNN).
Violence against women is a gender based violence because it is targeted specifically to women just for the fact that they are a woman, this can be due to many reasons like the attacker feeling empowered because they think of women as being the weak gender. The United Nations advocates against violence towards women in their Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women. They annotate that violence against women is a “manifestation of historically unequal power relations between men and women” It is something that happens more often that many people realize. Police brutality has become one of the hot topics within the media within the past few years. It’s always been around but its being discussed and speculated now more than ever, because of technology like cell phones, people are able to record what is happening, which furthers the attention of the police’s over excessive force within their communities. Still even with cellphone footage of cops killing these innocent people, they get acquitted and get put on leave from their job with pay until all of it blows over and they begin working again. What is the purpose of police officers? Are they here to provide safety for the people or are they here to just mess up their lives? All around the country the statement “protect and serve” can be seen on any police vehicle and any police building. But more often times than not the question arises, who are they truly protecting? Themselves or the helpless citizens of The United States of America. Over the past century crimes rates have sky rocketed; although these crimes are not being committed by your everyday criminals they 're being committed by the police officers that are suppose to be protecting the people. In “A distressing summer of workplace sexism reminds us how far we have to go” by Susanna Schrobsdorff, the author states, “according to a Pew Research survey released in August, most American men—56%— think sexism is over and done with. More than half believe that “the obstacles that once made it harder or women than men to get ahead are now largely gone. Of course, most women—63%—disagree” (Schrobsdorff 55). The misbelief that sexism still does not exist allows for the culture in which women continue to only be seen as sexual objects and not competent workers. Ehrenreich describes that, “[you should] watch out for Lon, who has a habit of following his female coworkers into service closets” (Ehrenreich 64). Ehrenreich is warned about a potential harassing employee and that it may happen to you, but most importantly, the behavior is normalized instead of trying to stop it. In “Not Just Fox” by Katha Pollitt, she explains that there is a misconception when it comes to being harassed and it is that, “being harassed is not a matter of weakness; it’s about the enormous power differential between worker and boss” (Pollitt 6). This is further supported by “ a 2015 Cosmopolitan survey, 71% of women said they did not file complaints about sexual harassment, likely because they feared appearing difficult or ‘too sensitive.’And they worry about retaliation and job security” (Schrobsdorff 55). Sometimes the person that is doing the harassing is the supervisor or the manager, when this occurs the victim is left with little options that will not disrupt the workplace. It is especially prominent when a police officer pulls someone over for someone that is not even against the law, which leaves the citizens confused one what they did wrong. If the officer can not prove that what they pulled them over for was against the law, then they should let the people go immediately. Sadly, the police officer did find something, “a bag of cocaine” (Iannacci). In conclusion, the perception of sexual harassment changes from person to person, gender to gender, and where the supposed act may take place. The past has proven that in any case, women are more likely to perceive a broader range of sexual contact or gestures as sexual harassment, while men will be less inclined to say anything. Perception is everything in sexual harassment, and dependent on the environment, may or may not have adverse effects none the less.

Bullying has become a serious problem in public schools systems. Being a victim of bullying is a daily struggle for some students. The issue continues to grow, but the question is how to stop bullying from occurring. Many ways have been attempted to stop bullying, but some are more effective than others. Having the students get involved seems to have the most positive effect on the bullying issue in public school systems.
