Most countries have police forces to enforce laws and ensure that public peace kept. In a democratic system of government, the police role is to keep public order without violating a citizen’s civil or human rights. This not necessarily correct, even in a democratic country the police do not always uphold civil liberties and do violate human rights.
Citizens should never have a reason to doubt the police force, because of respect for the badge and the officer. When a person of color sees the police the response assumed to be one of admiration and respect not fear.
In this 21century the police have become the aggressors and not the protectors. They often shoot first and ask questions later. Should police brutality occurs the “blue wall” of silences protects the police. This unwritten code can cause police officers not to report on another officer’s error, misconduct, and or crime when questioned about an incident involving another colleague during a course of an inquiry. This is most relevant in the that we are dealing, not with a country-spanning conspiracy against the people of color. However, the police, in the right circumstances, is sometimes trigger-happy when it comes to dealing with Whites, Asians, or Hispanics. Many think it is not about race that it is simply about power vested in the police. In today’s America, the police no longer perceived to be an organization aimed at keeping the peace and protecting the rights and freedoms of the populace. It is a military force waging an ongoing war against its own citizens. Many do not believe this war is real because they have no personal dealing with the police. Nevertheless, police brutality is real. It not only causes physical and psychological damage to people and their families, but it also costs the taxpayers up to two billion dollars in spending on court settlements for victims whose constitutional and civil rights violated by the force in
