Heart Vs Mind: What I’d Like or What I Love I have played sports for my entire life. Football, baseball, and basketball have always been important things to me. Since I have become older, I have a desire to be a coach for one of these sports. Coaches typically teach amateur or professional athletes the skills they need to succeed at their sport (Coaches and Scouts). I would be around many people who have the same passion and interests as me in the coaching profession. If a person suggested that I become a coach because of the salary, I simply would laugh. High school coaches often do not receive a large salary (Coaches and Scouts). If I was scouting a particular job that had a good salary and benefits, I would start by looking at being a petroleum engineer. Petroleum engineers design and develop methods for extracting oil and gas from deposits below the earth’s surface (Petroleum Engineers). This job interests me because of the incredible salary and benefits. It also is appealing due to the lucrative travel opportunities that the job often provides. Although being a petroleum engineer might be fun, coaching could lead to much more excitement be quite reminiscent of what I have done in my life leading up to this point. The work
