No matter if there are some detrimental aspects to sports there is always the positive of the life lessons that can be learned. Many parents put their children into sports for the wrong reason. They try to live their past dreams of sports glory through their kid. They can push and dem... ... middle of paper ... ...ased on their performance compared to other children. This can make them measure their self-worth based on their performance compared to others.
Through the published research of several experts, transformational leadership has a life changing effect on learners. Placing the task in perspective, it is the relationships that are the formed through a team environment which cultivates life-long learning and fulfillment within players. Contracting experiences which have shaped a coaches life are indispensable in guiding each player in the pursuit of their potential. A coach is one of the most influential people in a child’s life. It’s vital that each leader is aware of the beliefs they are teaching to their players.
One place where this is very evident is in sports, especially basketball. In many instances, it has gotten to the point where children, or young adults are making the decision to forgo college, an education, to make money. These athletes are either leaving college early for a career in the NBA or they are going straight from high school to the NBA. Granted, this is what most of them love to do, it has been their lifelong dream, but that is not the reason they choose this route. They are listening to others who think it is the best choice for them, when many times it is not.
One of the most important thing in basketball is the ability to play games and practicing as a team. When a person practices they gain the ability to win games but when they don’t practice they are more likely to lose there games because they are not as experienced as if they did practice. The more experience a player has the more successful they are gonna be out on the court compared to a player who never practices with there team will not be as successful to win games. No matter what sport a person plays there is always room for improvement and that leads to my next topic about the effects of practicing for basketball and how it can effect the skill level of the player. The effects of practicing and improvement in a players performance is key to the game of basketball when a player practices for basketball they are improving because they are either getting a better basketball IQ or improving in the fundamentals like shooting and passing and dribbling a player can not get too good on these attributes so it encouraged that players always practice.
That’s why, it’s my passion, and it makes a great comparison to my life. In life, people say you can be successful without any effort from yourself, an average person living peacefully, or a guy that has tried so hard, but made it so late. Just like basketball. You make hoops to be successful; you defend when you meet an opponent. You pass commonly to have someone support you or reach out a helping hand.
“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed,” said Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players. I feel this experience will help me at Rutgers significantly in a unique way. I will go for my degree in IT and business and devote all my energy into my passion because I’ll be perusing my passion and earning, there is nothing better than
On teams, people can work together and accomplish much more than they could by themselves. At workplace, teamwork means working together alone your qualified tasks that divided with other co-workers. In basketball, when players were being selfish, they usually do not get wins. Selflessness defines what teamwork means in basketball. Also, teamwork make our job and work fun, which and increase effectiveness.
Do I defend my opponent tightly or do I give her some space? Hundreds of options run through my head with only a couple seconds to decide; this has helped me to quickly think and act on situations. The inability to think on your feet is costly especially in basketball, it’ll be harder to make a shot or it will cause a turnover. A sport is sometimes considered a distraction, as it may result in absences or incomplete homework because practice ended la... ... middle of paper ... ...cisms and defeats which continually make me work harder to the victories and praises that show hard work pays off, it has helped build up my character and taught me to never give up. The competitive vibe feeds my soul.
Putting on the needed NBA muscle, learning how the game is played in the big boy league, becoming a better teammate, and being willing to work to improve every aspect of your game. Obviously injuries and being in a bad situation can put a damper on things but there is no substitute for hard work. First off, hit the books. No colleges will come calling if you don 't have the grades. Plus, you 'll find something other than basketball that you really like (I found computers).
Coach Carter was 2005 sports film based on a true story of Ken Carter; a basketball coach at Richmond High school who saw a need for his... ... middle of paper ... ...set the movie apart from others because in other sports movies a speech is usually given at the last game when the team is losing. This speech showed that there was a bigger message to deliver and a bigger goal to achieve. Being the best person you can be and allowing yourself to shine is bigger than the sports you may play. In the end we are meant to work hard not only for ourselves but also to allow ourselves, our lives and our stories to be inspiration to others. The speech answered the question what is our deepest fear in a way you did not expect.
