Payton and I worked well together while coming up with our leading exercise. Both of us came up with various exercises that could have been conducted in class and had no problem agreeing on one. Then, we discussed what our objectives for our exercise should be, coming up with similar intentions. We all have had individual ideas that we used to support each one of us. However, what I thought was the most beneficial part about this activity was listening to one another. Listening to one another allows one to learn more. It can also contribute to listening skills for example in lectures. The only thing that does not work for this activity is if students do not do the reading. It makes it hard for the facilitator because not everyone participates and some students feel like they are lost. What would have been good would be to discuss these questions as a class after the activity. This would allow more opinions to be made and more debates. Overall, the group leader assignment is a good use of time and the smaller groups allow students to talk more. For this project we were randomly assigned groups to prepare, and present a seminar on Macbeth. During the first two days of groupwork I was becoming frustrated because I always work to the best of my ability, and some of my group members were content with a mediocre grade. By the third day of our meetings, I came to the conclusion that action needed to be taken if this seminar was going to be completed to a level of quality I was happy with. I tasked myself with delegating a section of the seminar to each member, and then met individually with each person, on my own time, to make sure that they were comfortable with what was expected of them. Following this, I hosted the presentation document so that I could scrutinize the presentation for spelling and grammar. On presentation day, this hard work paid off, as every group member did what he or she was assigned, and this competency reflected itself in our mark. I wanted to start telling the story of our experience by sharing the feelings I brought into this exercise. A few years ago I underwent an experience of coaching through several sessions that left me this taste in the mouth that the coaching as a tool to develop others is not very effective. I have not taken the time to deeply analyze what went wrong but in general if I had to choose to do it again I think I would choose another methodology to foster change. Its objective in general is to assist in building behavioral skills, but in my opinion to really look for a long lasting change you need to give a deeper understanding to the lack of a certain skills, strongly reflect on the variables linked to it as could be the emotions, values and motivations that conduce you towards a behavior different that that one desired. Personally, I enjoy seeking information that allows me to jump beyond the facts, and staying on the behavioral side of the reality limits my passion for inspiration and insight.

My internship spends as a football coach has really been an eye-opener for me; especially sacrificing at least 15 hours per week of commitment. Being a football coach showed me that you need to be at nearly every practice, rain or shine, sick or healthy, job or no job. In order to gain some purpose while working in a group, I know it can be challenging task to do because every group member is required to agree and cooperate. I am privileged to become a part of a group and completed our task successfully. Our group consists of 5 members and we experienced the stages of group development along with which different roles being considered. Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
