A patient is an individual that is receiving medical care to improve their health. In the medical environment the nurse and the patient have to create and maintain a trusting and healthy relationship. The establishment of the relationship is essential to successfully find various ways too address and improve a patient’s health concerns. In order to create a professional, but personable relationship with each patient it is essential that I treat each individual with respect. Regardless of varying beliefs and values every patient should receive the care and attention that I would want to receive in their position. There are numerous body systems that work simultaneously to keep an individual alive and well. There are instances when the health of these systems are stimulated by an individual’s lifestyle choices, which is why the soul of the patient also needs to be cared for. As a nurse we come into contact with their patient while they are in the medical environment. However, there is a personal environment that the patient has to face everyday. In some instances, this environment can be negative due to abuse, financial problems, and other stressful situations. As a nurse it should be understood that a patient may be faced with medical situations, but they also have to manage problems and stressors outside of the medical environment. Stress and negativity can impact an individuals spirit and then translate to their mental and physical health. As a nurse I will work to make the hospital setting a healthy, safe, and positive environment for the patient. I will also address ways in which they can work to improve their own personal
