In this final paper, I’m going to briefly summarize what I have learned so far in weeks one through four in class. I will also discuss and implement recommendations from my instructor. Next, I will describe the role of nursing informatics and explain how this type of technology in healthcare may benefit or hamper those in leadership. Being leaders in a diverse society is something nurses must embrace. Everyone is a leader in one area or another, and understanding how to utilize time management, recognize and work with various personality types, how to handle conflict, and how to be emotionally intelligent, will enable leaders to excel in every field.

Her recommendation was looking at the transformational theory as a leader and the important characteristics and traits they hold. In week two, my instructor responded to the various forms of power. I learned about the different types of power a productive leader utilizes. She also reiterated the importance of leaders and followers being interdependent, and how their relationship supports the other. In week three, she recommended the importance of getting politically involved as nurses. Joining a profession nursing organization was strongly recommended and after reading through week three, I realized the importance and am eager to make my steps as a nurse to make a difference. In week four, her recommendations were that having both sexes on a team can be a valuable in bridging the gap in communication. Having this type of technology at their fingertips will save a tremendous amount of time when searching for patient information. Having a dashboard that shows critical values and has the ability to make recommendations will enhance the nursing practice (Parker, 2014). This, in turn, will assist those in the leadership position in regards to their staff. Making sure the staff is safely and properly taking care of their patients is a goal to those in leadership. Ways that this technology may hamper those in leadership could be problems with teaching the staff. It is important to properly use this type of technology and there are some that are technologically challenged. The leader would need to take extra time in making sure their staff is well educated and charting properly. This could be time-consuming for some leaders. Technology is not for everyone, but those nurses who utilize this type of charting must be proficient to avoid various mishaps from
