There is a lot of enlightenment idea like free speech, divide power and majority rules. The enlightenment idea 14that I am talking about contain all three of these. It is made by John Locke and is called as natural rights. I think most important idea that challenge the existing authority is the natural rights. The enlightenment idea of natural rights challenged the existing authority of the king because he think he is the only one that has rights and no one else has it. One example is from document 3, made by John Locke in 1690. He was at the side of common people and the natural rights. He was talking about the natural right that people have and the government was established to protect people’s natural. This is the quote that talks about it, “ Men being…by nature all free,equal, and independent, no one can be…subjected to the political power of another without his own consent...to protect natural rights governments are established…” This related to the thesis by in order to protect natural right the government are established but if the government didn't protect but want to destroy it then it is up to people’s job to rebuilt it and make …show more content…

He was at the side of the King and say that only the King have the right to make the laws, make sure the law come true, and to decide to cancel the law of not. He say, “The interest of the state must come first.” It means that his interest or the King’s interest must come first to make the law. It relates to my thesis by before the government was established to protect and preserve people’s natural rights but here the Kings want must come first to make laws but it isn't for the saint of people. It is only the King’s selfish wants and interest, it might not even help the people at all. It is a challenge to the King because if natural right is there then the King can't give out law based on his own personal will and he can't do anything he want to
