My passion to become a social worker began when I was pursuing an undergraduate degree. From a young age because of my compassion and empathetic nature, I knew that I wanted to work inside the human service field. I wanted to use my personal characteristics to improve individual’s lives. Social work was my calling because of the many different areas in the field that are all primarily focused on making a difference. I am interested in clinical social work, working with individuals and families.
I have chosen social work as a profession because of my passion to help others. I want to make a difference in someone’s life and help them through the problems they are having. Whether the client needs counseling, guidance, or advocacy I want to be the person to help them. My drive for helping others and motivation to change social policies for the better is why I have chosen social work as my future profession.
After taking the career interest profiler, I showed the strongest interest in enterprising and investigative (“Family Connection”). As I explored potential careers for myself, I narrowed it down to two career choices: a lawyer and a public relations and fundraising manager. After further research, I decided that the best career for me will be a public relations and fundraising manager because I am passionate about planning events and helping people, I possess characteristics vital for the career, and I am good at public speaking and writing.
I prefer implementing ideas and achieving goals. I like seeing patterns quickly in external events and developing long-range explanatory perspectives. This type of person will organize a job and carry it through when committed. And I have high standards of competence and performance. The work value survey reveals that an experience change and variety at work, job security, high degree of excitement, friendships, artistic creativity expression, power and authority, are some of the working factors that I value. According to the self-direct search, my SDS code is CSA, which represents conventional, social, and artistic. I got the highest score in conventional that I am more interested in working indoors and organizing things by using clerical and math abilities. I also got great scores in artistic and social. My interest in social work stems from a love of volunteering that I possessed ever since I was a young child expressing great enthusiasm for church and school service events. As I grew older, I began volunteering for many other community events, such as serving over 200 hours at a local hospital, helping with free cancer screenings, and fitting children with free bike helmets. I even created my own donation drive for a local women’s and children’s shelter. I feel the best when I am striving to create positive changes in my community and for struggling, marginalized individuals. Social services have been a part of my life for a very long time, and I want it to continue to be on a professional level.
My passion for consulting began last year. There was something in consulting that I hadn’t found in other careers. The unique challenges and need to think creatively to solve problems is exciting. Preparation for the future is key to dealing with a changing workplace. The job analysis should integrate issues the organization may confront in the future, such as turnover and technology advances that could change its structure. 3. Forecasting HR needs is critical to the success of the organization. These should be assessed with past trends, evaluating the skills of incumbent positions, and being aware of changing skills and requirements. Some questions/activities regarding job analysis: A class activity would be a case study that involves a new person hired into an organization where a job analysis is not utilized. The following questions serve as a guideline for the types of issues that could arise without a clear job analysis.
Passion for Family, Community, Business, Technology and Intellectual growth are what motivate me on the daily basis. These are vital parts that have contributed to framing me into the person I’ve become. They have also shaped my short-term and long-term goals in life. It’s critical for one to have a vision for their life and what they anticipate to accomplish. Without a vision or desire there is no hope for one to continue and to purse anything.
