Describe your understanding of the social work profession and its core values. How have you incorporated social work values in your human service experiences and interactions with others? What significant relationships and life experiences have you had in giving or receiving help that have motivated you to enter the field of social work? What personal qualities equip you for the social work profession? Discuss your experiences and feelings about the working with populations different from your own. My understanding about the social work profession is one that works with a diverse group of people to better their well-being in all aspects. Social workers requires: responsibility, passion, and knowledge. The social worker has to understand their own personal cultural values, beliefs, and appreciate the multicultural identities of different people. The profession of social worker requires a lot of skills because they have different tasks and responsibilities. The social worker sets to the side the form of oppression, so it focuses on the need of social advocacy and social action. Also, coming from a low-income family I had suffer first hand hunger. My parent were poor that there were times we would eat a piece of bread and water. This event motivate me to help other people in need to provide resources that they need to better their well-being. The personal qualities that I equip for the social work profession is the ability to work effectively with people from diverse populations. I was born and raised in a community composed of diverse populations which has given the training/knowledge to become a social worker. During the internship and the volunteering, I learn to be empathy with other people. I have what I takes to be a social worker because I want to help
