My Experience: Reflection Of Structured Learning Experience

As an Industrial Engineering student of Technological Institute of the Philippines, it is incorporated in our curriculum that we take part in the program of the course Plant Visit and Seminars. In the said course, we participated in an activity called Structured Learning Experience. Let's first discuss what is Structured Learning Experience or SLE. As defined, SLE is the experiential, supervised, in-depth learning experiences that are designed to offer students the opportunity to fully explore career interests within one or more of the Career Clusters. Being part of this activity paved a path to a deeper understanding of what lies ahead and beyond the classroom experience. Indeed, it was a tough course to take and I've gained a lot of new insights and learnings in the process. There are several points I have learned. First, is the planning stage. During conceptualization, I met with my group mates and we talked about things that we want to happen and how to make it happen. We gathered relevant information and facts related to the activity that we are planning. Then we started organizing. We put our ideas into action, carefully scrutinize the details and make sure that every aspect is covered. Next is we delegated. We appointed point person that will spearhead the proper execution and facilitation of the activities. I have realized that our country is more on exporting talents rather than creating a venue to further enhance those talents and giving them a competitive edge and reason to stay. An example of how successful a manufacturing business is in other country is Toyota in Japan. The manufacturing plant is so big it can fit 6 SM Megamalls inside. Can you imagine how Japan was able to achieve and maintain such a flourishing company? It is thru their hard work and dedication to be better and aim higher. This is where productivity, as a TIP graduate attribute, comes in. Focus on aspects where I can contribute in nation building and development. I must put into action what I have learned through my years as a student and develop ideas to improve productivity in factories. Toyota did not bloom overnight.
