Milton Hershey was not the type of person that anyone would have viewed as a leader, or shrewd businessman. Being born into a rather poor lower class family, he was not very well educated. The one thing that we do know for sure though, is that leaders are not born, they are made. This is exactly the case of Milton Hershey, and because of his undying determination to succeed, he became one of the greatest success stories of all time.
What factors or events made the person a leader?
For Milton Hershey, he was the type of person that not a lot of people expected a whole lot out of. He was your typical small town boy, and although he had very little growing up, he learned to be happy with what he was given. Although Milton Hershey, did grow to be an amazing businessman, he had almost no formal schooling or education after being thirteen years of age. He left school to work, and also to help take care with his mother. It was while Milton was growing up, that his father (Henry) left his mother. In many ways, it was Henry, Milton’s father, who inspired him to be the type of leader he was, and to never give up, no matter how many times he failed. While Milton was still growing up, Henry tried getting in on the oil business that was going on at the time. While he did learn a lot from the experience, he walked away empty handed. The problem that Milton could see with his father, was that he was bursting full of ideas, but he had no money, and was growing older as time went on.

The heart of a child is one free of fear. It is brave and courageous; uncontaminated by any sources of doubt. Therefore, during the tender age of childhood, one is able to form ideas that those older are unable to even entertain. It is only when one comes of age, that he faces predicaments which cause him to question whether his dream should be pursued. In such circumstances, the individual either comes to consider his dreams too impractical to achieve and chooses to submit to that uncertainty, or chooses to overcome his fears and pursue his dream. Such is apparent in various events throughout Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist. In several circumstances, individuals are faced with the option of conformity as it is depicted as the result of fearing
The movie “Audism Unveiled” was a very interesting and powerful movie. I never realized that deaf individuals are discriminated against. This could be partly because I have never been immersed in or educated about the deaf culture until this year. One of the things that struck me the most while watching “Audism Unveiled” was the many heart wrenching stories about children being unable to communicate with their own non-signing hearing families.. The deaf child would have to ask their family members, why everyone was laughing or what’s going on. The family members would just tell them “I’ll tell you later” or “Nevermind. It’s not important”, resulting in the individual feeling isolated. Personally, I agree with people saying that if a parent has a deaf child they should learn how to sign; communication is what brings families together. As a result, the most intriguing thing to me was the stories of family members never learning American Sign Language; leaving their family member isolated.

Milton’s theodicy is shown as a way to explain why if God is all loving, why he lets bad things happen to us. His basic concept is that because Eve partook of the forbidden fruit, many consequences came after. For example children dying of cancer. Many times in our lives things happen that we don’t think are good necessarily, but good things come from bad things. The choices we make have consequences and, but sometimes we are given trial for, what we believe, is no particular reason. This has been the question from the beginning. Milton decided to write this because it is on everyone 's mind, and he wanted to challenge Homer’s The Iliad and The Odyssey. Milton was successful, in that, his book is well known, but The Iliad and The Odyssey are still the basis of human thought. Everyone in their lifetimes wants to accomplish something that will help them to be more successful than they are now. This was Milton’s thought process. Who wouldn’t want to write a book and have it be considered the basis of human thought and maybe even the book people associate with our nation? Most people would, this is why Milton tried and somewhat had a success. The
Throughout history, there have been great leaders, some for the good of humanity, and some for the not-so good of humanity. The one element all leaders have in common is in some way, have changed the course of history. The one great leader I have found to be interesting and envision of a great leader is William Bradford, an original passenger on the Mayflower, and the first ever governor elected on what is to become, American Soil.
Enron was the model for rapid growth in the 1990’s but part of the culture and ethics of Enron was disturbing. Falsified documents, cutthroat competitiveness among employees and accounting schemes that hid the truth of the company’s indebtedness were just a few examples of the lack of business ethics within the organization. Perhaps a more virtuous management team could have saved Enron from collapse.
The rise from the poor boy in Scotland to the second richest man in America. He had plenty of initiative and persevered throughout his life to become what he wanted to be. He retired as one of the most respected men in the world, and he will be in the history books forever.
Every leader had to start somewhere; they all had to have a reason to become a great leader. They have developed strong attributes to overcome their struggles and challenges. Great leaders like Harriet Tubman and Emily Murphy, who have had the courage to take action in the world and have had great confidence to achieve their goals. They are among the people, who through centuries have made a difference. Who have fought for their rights and surpassed difficult obstacles in their lives to complete their goals; taking leadership and making a difference in the world as well as overcoming challenges others could not.

Milton establishes himself as the legitimate teller of the tale – and this tale will take us beyond the mythology of the Greeks’Aonian Mount and inoculate us against Hell’s prodigiousness. He is taking us beyond mythological or explanatory pictures of ourselves, to an area where we may bask in a greater comfort:
Since we are all born, the best answer to this question is: leaders are born and then made. A good leader is always moving forward; he never repeats the same thing! They strives to seek new experiences and they are in a constant self improving mode, that means he takes in information from a multitude of sources, including but not limited to his own interpretation of life experiences, observations, journals, website, informal training from an excellent mentor as well as from more formal training that is given in an academic setting.
Let’s use Bill Gates, one of the great worldwide leaders, for this instance. As we all acknowledge, Bill Gates is always considered, without doubt, a successful man and one of the top ranking leaders. We as well know that Bill Gates, of course, was not a leader by birth, nor did any creator intentionally or accidentally bestow him the knowledge he possesses today, but rather by his acquirement of experience throughout his lifetime.
...ns and the company’s fair-value accounting resulting in restatements of merchant investments based on faulty numbers. Additional violations included Enron’s accounting for stock issued to SPE’s, inadequate disclosure of related party transactions, and conflicts of interest and their cost to stockholders. These violations of GAAP and GAAs standards ultimately lead to the demise of a once mighty company (Benston, The Quality of Corporate Financial Statements and Their Auditors before and after Enron). The importance of consistently keeping up with accounting principles and producing accurate numbers for a company’s are exemplified through Enron’s story. The company faced an unfortunate fate that could have easily been avoided through more efficient and effective management, proper accounting methods, and a higher standard of morals and ethics within the workplace.
When I think of someone who is a great leader I automatically think about current and previous managers I have had over the years, and honestly I cannot say that any of them are the definition of a great leader. So after I looked up many different definitions of a leader all of them basically defined a leader in the same way, someone who leads people. So, a leader does not typically have to be a manager it could be a teacher or a parent. That is when I realize that a great leader has always been right in front of me teaching me great values, and that is my mother.
Milton took the book Genesis and wrote it more about Satan then God, Adam and Eve and called it Paradise Lost. Some say that he was worshipping the devil without even knowing it. Milton’s life wasn’t the easiest. This could have been the reason why he thought God wasn’t all that people think He is. Milton wrote more about Satan than God in his story for this reason. You will find out why Milton wrote this book and the reasons why he wrote Paradise Lost.
