Kieran Loveridge had been heavily drinking since 5 pm on 7th July 2012 in Kings Cross. By 9:30 pm he became extremely drunk, walking in an unusual way and behaving aggressively. Kieran then stood back on a brick wall and as Thomas Kelly (an 18-year old teenager) was walking by, he stepped out and gave him a heavy punch to the face, fracturing the back of his skull and giving him severe brain injury. On the same night, Loveridge had assaulted three other people. Two days later, Thomas Kelly died in hospital from a severe head injury. This was Thomas Kelly’s first night out in Kings Cross.
