But if all the innocent people are secured so it would be difficult to do criminal acts (Adams, 2004). Every day thousands of crimes take place and the law protects the innocents and punishes the guilty person. If the people are protected really well so no law can be broken. However, some laws are broken in such a way that it takes a lot of time for authorities to find out regarding them and then investigating them is a big problem. The writing style of the author is quite interesting to me. Atul Gawande’s honesty, a major aspect of his writing style, beautifully highlights the good and bad of any medical profession. For example, Gawande’s argument over the use of patients for resident training

...onse crime control measures would be adopted resulting in an autocratic criminal justice system in which individual rights are frequently infringed in order to punish the guilty. When this is too much, due process would be used again, and so the vicious cycle begins and continues. The outcome is one that is consistently failing to satisfy the needs of the system and the public. It is for this precise reason, along with the others mentioned within this essay, that render a single, simple and straightforward answer to not only be inadequate, but actually counter-productive as it fuels the inimical cycle. Instead, a flexible approach in which a union of both principles may produce a hybrid model most effective in removing the simplicity and shortcomings of the individual models and thus settling one of the main conflicts of interest within the criminal justice system.
What would cause an individual to behave in this rather heinous and macabre manner? Using Robert Pickton as a case study, this paper will explore the phenomenon of serial murder and apply research literature to help explain his behaviour and examine issues such as psychopathy, mental disorder, and substance abuse relevant to the Pickton case. In addition, the paper will explore the sexually sadistic nature of Pickton’s murders. Finally, the paper will explore the reasoning behind Pickton’s selection of drug addicted prostitutes as victims that enabled him to conduct his murders in relative anonymity. ...
New types of technology have made it easier to track down and catch criminals. Then also made it easier for prosecutors to gather and present more credible information. Some new technology that has made it easier to track down criminals or help provide more reliable and supportive evidence is things such as DNA testing, computer technology, fingerprinting, and GPS tracking devices. “The main strengths of technology in the criminal justice system lie in the provision of databases which allow better and more efficient records to be stored and retrieved” (Bean 370). Serial murder investigations are the most difficult cases for investigators. Serial murder investigations can become wide spread, and can include many challenges that will require time, money and resources.
