Is Man of Steel True to the Superman Legacy?

How close does Man of Steel fly towards the Superman legacy, and are its changes for the better or for the worse? Many fundamentalist fanatics have mixed feelings amongst Man of Steel, and are critiquing director, Zack Snyder, due to the vast range in which the concept of the movie is from the origins of Superman. Some fanatics question if the Snyder fully understands the origins of Superman due to the far fetch theory of the film opposed to the comics. The disappointment has left mixed feelings amongst the audience. Some express that the twists were a nice addition to the films; while others feel as if the story should stay the same. The film goes off on a complete tangent from the origins of Superman. Zack Snyder has made voluminous inaccuracies due to the fact that Superman does not get his full potential powers until three-fourths of the way through the film, he has lack of concern for the citizens, and most importantly he executes General Zod.
Is this film about Superman or about a mysterious bearded man who protects people once in every decade of his lifetime? One problem that the film has lies within the first hour of the movie - in which the film, having up to that point not yet really established Superman as a hero. Opposed to the original Superman in which Superman would be fully developed within the first scene of the movie. In addition to his powers being fully developed, Superman would have already established his arch nemesis as well. This course of action took way to long, and while understanding that the director wanted a firm background of Clark Kent as well as Kal-El this action could have been more upfront. In Man of Steel Clark Kent should have transformed into Superman and shown the world who he really is and...

...m. However, in Man of Steel he did the unthinkable, he killed a life form, that life form being General Zod. Fanatics were outraged at the sight of this scene, and they have the right to be. The decision was poor, and almost ruined the entire movie.
When all is considered, the decisions made by the director to change Man of Steel from the original comics was a poor choice, for Superman not gaining full potential for an extensive time, he contains no concern for the citizens, and he murders a life form. The director, Zack Snyder, changed this film to try to appeal to different generations, yet he did not consider the original fanatics. The original fanatics were the ones whom created this series to what it is today. Granted Man of Steel overall was a pleasant film to watch, however the fact that it does not follow the comics furies the original Superman enthusiasts.
