The Dark Knight follows the crusade of Batman as he tries to shut down the mob in Gotham City. A new factor comes into play, something that could shake Batman to his core and rip Gotham apart, the Joker portrayed by Heath Ledger. The film itself does not stray from the classic superhero plot line of there is a hero, a problem arises, the hero is tested and nearly dies but in the end ends up overcoming the obstacle and defeating the problem. Granted the movie does have a few differences it sticks to the generalization for the most part, making it like every other Batman movie. However, where this movie gets its originality is the way that the story is presented and the way that the characters in the film are portrayed. The film itself is much darker and more serious than previous Batman films. The Joker is the best example in this case. Previously the Joker was a silly, goofy clown that terrorized Gotham through deadly pranks. This portrayal of the Joker was a darker and sinister one. This Joker still maintains the clown look but is more of a cold blooded insane killer. Instead of being portrayed as a goofy clown he it is more easy to believe that the Joker is …show more content…
For this example, we are going to treat them as two separate people despite being the same. Bruce Wayne is portrayed as a bit of a clueless and spoiled person, he sort of flaunts the fact that he’s loaded. Batman is more of a serious character. Even when Bruce Wayne is not in the Batsuit but he has adopted the personality of Batman, he is more of a serious and real person. However, these two characters combine after the death of Rachel Dawes, a lifelong friend of Bruce and his love interest. The two combine when Bruce is expressing his doubts of being the Batman. In this moment he is the emotional Bruce Wayne but still maintains the seriousness of Batman. He is considering ending Batman once and for all after losing his will to
Heath Ledger takes up the role of the Joker, the main antagonist in this film. In his role, he played a side of the Joker never seen before – a psychotic, ruthless, sadistic killer who does not care for money, but wants to establish fear and anarchy into Gotham. His performance is outstanding, unlike anything ever seen. A part of you almost wants him to defeat...
Bruce Wayne, Batman’s secret identity, is an American billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, and owner of Wayne Enterprises. Batman is one of the most well-known and well-liked superheroes of all time probably because of all of the comics, TV shows, movies and video games with him in it. Many are interested in Batman mainly because he is human, has no super powers and no special abilities just like a normal person but continues in many super human things using his gadgets, a body suit and a brilliant mind. Not only are these some of the differences between him and some other super heroes but he wants to see justice served and to defeat his enemies because he focuses on what is right and what is wrong. Batman has starred in about fourteen films both as a starring character and as an ensemble character beginning in 1943 and the latest in 2012 with two more coming in 2016 and 2017. This traumatic event does not leave him but remains with him through all his life. It is so surprising that a man like Bruce Wayne can be somebody like Batman. It is as if they are two different people. Nobody would guess that these two identities could be the same man. Many may say what Bruce is doing is normal and is his way of coping but there is too much evidence suggesting that Bruce Wayne is suffering from dissociative identity disorder.
In order to truly understand the things that Batman does, one must know how he came to be. Batman’s true identity is that of the multi-billionaire owner of Wayne Enterprises, Bruce Wayne. The first movie in the Dark Knight trilogy, Batman Begins, tells the story of how Bruce came to don the cape and the mask of Batman, from the perspective of the director, Christopher Nolan. When Bruce was a boy, he was leaving a theatre with his parents Martha and Thomas. As they started walking down the alley to get home, his parents were shot and killed by a mugger. This traumatic event happens right in front of Bruce without him doing anything to stop it as he is stricken by fear and powerless. Years later, Bruce starts training with the League of Shadows, a group of assassins that live the mountains. Under the tutelage of their leader Ra’s al Ghul, Bruce it taught that to “conquer fear, you must become fear, you must bask in the fear of other men,
Batman and Superman have basic hero similarities. Costumes, secret identities, and love for cheesecake . . ., ok so not the cheesecake, are obtained by both. Looking a little deeper than surface information, both heroes' parents passed away when they were very young. Batman's parents died by the hand of a petty thief in a robbery turned sour, while Superman's ferternal parents blew up on their home planet Krypton. Another event shared by the soldiers of justice is the fact that both were influenced by their father to become crime fighters. Clark Kent's father asked him to use his powers and gifts for good. Bruce Wayne's father was murdered and Bruce felt guilty for not preventing it, therefore creating Batman to help prevent it from happening to anyone else. In addition to the other similarities both characters are part of the same comic brand name, DC Comics.
Somebody who had established higher power in their community. Somebody who tried to run from fate, and has the moment of recognition and understanding of their destiny. Batman. Even though he is considered the strong and powerful superhero of Gotham City, Batman's characteristic features show that he relates strongly to that of a "tragic" hero. In the beginning, the Batman is presented at a higher state of appreciation, even though the police see him as a vigilante. Despite his wealth, Batman, otherwise known as Bruce Wayne, is easily relatable to audiences, which makes it easy to sympathize and empathize with the character. Batman is in a constant battle within himself, trying to be the good guy, while defeating the bad guys. His morals prove true when he admits that he won't kill any of the many villians that cause destruction for Gotham City. But, because of this moral, sometimes the villians end up escaping and doing more harm then good. In the end, this interal chaos and internal battle is seen interally and externally through Batman. At the end of the most recent Batman series, The Dark Knight, his exit at the end of the movie is, in essence, his figurative death. Bruce Wayne wants to keep Gotham City safe. And with the "Batman" gone, villians will be least likely to continue to destroy and conquer. As an audience, we cling to the edge of our seats and feel dismay for our beloved superhero and what is to become of
Bruce Wayne’s origins story for the Batman is filled with great pain fear; his parents had died at the hands of criminals and wished to rid his city of the polluted evil it had become consumed by. He hoped to inspire the people of Gotham to stand up these criminals, but that truly wasn’t enough, he had to become more than just a man to inspire. The Batman was created to become an incorruptible and eternal symbol to bring about a change in Gotham.

Firstly, the movie presents the world of Gotham City, urban environment similar in many ways to that found in many modern, American cities. Gotham has many social problems and is filled with the same deviant and criminal activity that often are present in every city. In Gotham the crime is high, also the police are corrupted also there are different culture and rules in the city that lead to deviant culture. But there is Batman that fight over time in a war between justice also the crime.
“The film was shot using a wider than usual lens so that it could be shown in I-MAX cinemas nationwide. Today’s audiences want an experience bigger than reality. We have to go that extra mile to give them that something extra.” Chris Nolan also insisted that the film should have a distinctive style which included making the film feel sincerely dark and sinister. Very rarely were the cameras sat still instead the cameras used very technical tricks e.g.: tracking, zoom. This film was originally promoted using a very unique style. Instead of paying for adverts they decided to promote the film using an alternative route. One of the ways this was accomplished was by de facing thousands of fake dollar notes by putting the jokers smile on top of the original face. A sane yet effective way was when many “Batman” recruits placed Joker cads into hundreds of books in libraries to do with death, this had the desired effect as many people became stirred up as to what this meant. The next alternative was to send out spam emails to the site named www.whysoserious.com. But when did Batman evolve as part of our lives. It was in 1939 when the world was introduced to a new hero. Bob Kane’s simple vigilante, Batman. The comics were e-introduced during the 50’s period. Yet due to Comic Book Censorship the violence was forced to gradually become weaker. The well anticipated Batman retuned in the 1970’s. Yet to intrigue a wider variety of audience he appeared more complicated and violent than previous comics. Today’s Batman comics show Batman as a real man with realistic and varied dilemmas. Due to these changes Batman is now one of the most original and adored comic book heroes. Nolan’s interpretation is a variety of the previous comics. It includes the violence of the First Batman mixed with the complexity and realism of today’s modern comics.
Bruce Wayne in Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is rich, single, and older than he has been before. Bruce Wayne creates his alternate identity as the Batman in order to fight crime and protect the city of Gotham’s residents. However, because Bruce Wayne is now in his forty’s, so is Batman. For example, “My mistake was to match his savagery. To fight like a young man.” (Miller Book 2). He realizes his mistake when fighting the mutant boss; fighting like he was still a young man. Batman, while still one of the best detectives around, is not as agile and strong as he used to be. He cannot escape being the Batman because that is what he is used to. He has yet to get over his parent’s death which plagues him to no end. Then he must deal with the fact that he is not as young as he used to be, and therefore cannot fight as such. He is able to save others while at the expense of having a normal life. So yes, Bruce Wayne reinventing himself as the Batman has its perks, but he will always reminisce in the pain from his past.
Batman changes in his storyline because of the death of his parents. He then goes to some mountain place (I think the Himalayas) and then trains with Ra’s al Ghul. He becomes a league of assassin member. He then goes back to gotham city and has dick grayson as his sidekick. He Has alfred help him and has really awesome and helpful gadgets. He becomes an awesome vigilante and defeats a bunch of villains and saves gotham numerous times. This was wrote by me. Randall Lee Rongved.
Batman went through a series of events to become the batman. Batman doesn’t want people to find out his identity and he thinks that’s what makes him a hero. Batman is smart therefore when he knew that people hate he decided to stay hidden in the bat suit and capture the bad guy known as Joker, like the time when Harvey was in the police truck after stating that he was Batman so the killing that Joker was committing would stop. Wayne is the millionaire hot boy,who spends all his time spending money and hanging out
He survived all the ordeals and living through death, he returns to Gotham with the elixir of hope and change. Bruce Wayne does not only bring a powerful change for himself but he brings a powerful change of the hearts and minds of all Gotham citizens. The citizens of Gotham now have faith to fight corruption, and for once, have a high rate to actually win. Knowing they have a might ally with them. Batman Begins closes in unprejudiced. For we all know they are several more battles to fight. Such as, criminals to conquered and arch- enemies to pursue. The birth of Batman has just ended but, but the Legend has just
Any fan of Batman knows that “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” are two of the best Batman films made in the seventy-eight years that Batman has been around. The plots really make you look deep in yourself and show the true and more real sides of the characters of the Batman world. Each movie shows the evolution of Batman and shows only a few of the many crazy and intense adventures of this mysterious hero. These movies were heavily praised for their astounding realism to the real world, and its pros and cons. But they were also extremely liked for their possibility for
