As part of our initiative to be increasingly proactive, British Petroleum has decided to invest in interpersonal communication tactics. The tactic of information exchange will aid us in effectively communicating with employees and assist with reaching our goal to increase overall safety. Using the information exchange tactic will allow us to successfully communicate our safety expectations to our employees, as well as hear what they expect from the organization. The personal involvement tactic will help us with our reputation management goal of increasing job security within our workforce. The interpersonal communication tactic will help British Petroleum through information exchange in communicating with our employees. By using the information exchange tactic, we will be able to communicate our expectations to our employees and reinforce their knowledge of safety measures and requirements. We will set up mandatory training sessions for lower level management to attend. These training sessions will be used to communicate the old and new expectations of British Petroleum. They will also be used to collect feedback in areas we have overlooked or never considered. This two-way communication will lay down a positive and effective communications foundation for the future, as well as increase employee satisfaction and perceived employee value. Top management will give motivational safety speeches that will provide face-to-face interaction and bring awareness to our employees as well as act upon the safety protocols we are putting in place. The main advantage of this tactic will be an increased frequency and strength of communication efforts across the company. The disadvantage will be the initial lack of engagement from some of our employees; however, if we can effectively reach 75% of our employees and achieve active engagement among the majority, our company will succeed in increasing our overall employee …show more content…

By creating civic events around the United States and around the world, we want to get connected with fairs and carnivals in which our employees can get together with their families and have some fun at no expense. At these special events we will have free food, games, carnival rides and prizes. By having these special events, we will be able to increase job satisfaction amongst our employees. Using this tactic we will be able to help relieve some stress and frustrations that come with working at a company as large as British Petroleum. By making this a yearly function that our employees can look forward too, we are betting that this will have a major impact of job satisfaction amongst our employees. The main advantage of this tactic is to increase job satisfaction and decrease job turnover. The disadvantage of having a yearly special event around the world is the costs associated with such an elaborate event and not having employees go to these events. However, by giving them incentives such as free food, games, carnival rides and prizes, we are betting that these events will be successful. We are putting forth the time and resources to keep our employees and we are betting that they want to work in such a family
