Introduction/Thesis
Business calls for implementing creative strategies and results from quantitative research can be an effective tool. Utilizing quantitative research can lead to a company’s growth in areas of training of personnel, customer satisfaction, productivity, and marketing. Quantitative research is used to quantify the problem by way of generating numerical data or data that can be transformed into useable statistics. (Wyse) Quantitative research uses questionnaires and surveys usually consist of telephone surveys, internet surveys, and in-person surveys. There are various of methods and tools that can assist with quantitative research. One method use is telephone survey, customers are ask to respond to specific questions over the telephone. West Asset Management uses this method to improve customer satisfaction. Another method uses internet survey, this consisting of, emails and company links sent to both customers and prospective customers. Internet surveying allows for less biased results and can reach a vast amount of participants. (Fluid Surveys) Internet surveys gain feedback regarding advertisement videos, new brand, customer’s satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Once the survey is created and its link is sent to the participants, responses are automatically stored in a database. That means that researchers receive their data in real time. (Fluid Surveys) The third method uses in-person surveys, these are conducted on site or in general public area by an interviewer. This allows the interviewer to interact with responders, observe their body language and tone of voice. In-person surveys allow the company to present the consumers with the product or services first hand and get immediate feedback. Obviously some methods and tools used in quantitative research are more effective than others, much depends on the purpose behind the research. Using telephone surveys as a part of research gives the company an opportunity to become more personnel useless they are using automatic dialer system. Some disadvantage of this survey is that it can become time consuming, reach less participants and be more costly. Another type of survey that allows social interaction is the in-person surveys, the advantage of in-person survey, is that the organizations can get more personal with the participants. The interviewer can see the participants’ reaction to questions and their body language, they can also get more than just facts and the interviewer can become more social. In-person surveys also have some disadvantage, such as, more costly, time consuming and take more personnel time to conduct the survey. Even though the Internet is very popular, there are advantages and disadvantages regarding internet ways. The advantage of internet surveys are that they allows the company to reach out to more participants, less costly, easier to conduct and gather data can be stored and completed in a timely manner. Disadvantage of internet surveys include; it is less personnel, only based on facts, restricted to specific questions and availability of willing participants.
