The world today is not always like this. There was once a time where our ancestors fought each other to achieve the greater good for their own countries. During those dark days, the ground was soaked with blood due to the war. Today, we have come a long way since then as we manage to live in harmony despite the people with different races and cultures we encounter in our daily lives. Harmony is spread throughout the world where each nation’s and countries’ leaders work together to maintain it. However, harmony is so fragile like a glass where only a whisper could fracture it. Therefore it must be maintained and cherished. An example of harmony that exist within a multi-racial country would be Malaysia. First and foremost, what is harmony? According to the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, harmony is a situation when people live or work together without fighting or disagreeing with each other. Harmony is what keeps chaos at bay everyday. If we failed to maintain harmony, there would be wars which lead to bloodshed and death. People will turn on one another and we will live in fear. The lives of our family including us would be in danger. Besides, harmony within families and society in a country is the key to success for a country’s development. A country where its people are fighting each other daily will have a hard time developing as resources are required to overcome the chaos. As a result, there are not much resources left to be used to develop the country itself. For example, the conflicts among different races will lead to the destruction of infrastructures which required additional resources to rebuild them. Not only that, harmony contributes to the stability of a country’s economy. Countries that are peaceful are bound to have more investment in their economy as they deliver an impression to others that they are able to manage everything
