I Want To Study Engineering At Texas A & M

My history with engineering up until this point in my life has been rather limited. The high school I have attended has offered classes in basic engineering. I have taken classes in Concepts of S.T.E.M, robotics, and engineering design, all of which have wet my appetite to further my academic interest. The School of Engineering at Texas A & M is where I want to further my education and learn all facets of engineering. At seventeen I wish I could write an amazing essay on why I want to study engineering. I wish I could articulate the finer points of industrial distribution or computer science. I can, however, articulate that my desire to design and create and learn all aspects of engineering is present. Although I have not had the opportunity …show more content…

In Sophomore year, each person in my Principals of STEM class created a bridge out of thin pieces of wood and hobby glue. After creating the design on the computer, I made my bridge. It took a long time, but when it was finished it performed well. The trusses transferred the weight very well and my bridge was the most efficient in the class. Another time I created something was last year when I was taking Physics 1. My teacher Mr. Sundeen gave us a project where we created rockets. Throughout this project, the sense of creating something tangible was amazing. Seeing the rocket launch through the air and almost immediately curve to the left at great speed left me with a sense of wonder and excitement. These projects inspired me to have a career where I could make things, and engineering aligned with this idea perfectly. Foremost, my father has been my greatest inspiration. Since I was little, we have always done building projects. The earliest and best of which was when I was seven and we made a pinewood derby car. The sense of amazement when looking at our car zip past the finish line is something I look back on fondly and is something I want to replicate later in life on a grand
