QUESTION 1 If I were to choose any career, I would be a nurse practitioner with a specialization in emergency care. I plan to get my Bachelor's in Nursing, then continue to get my Master’s of Science in Nursing. I have always loved the rush and ever-changing setting of the ER. At the start of high school, I had no idea what career field I would enter. Sophomore year I changed my career pathway to the health science route, and I have loved it. I have since then narrowed my career choice down to an NP. Since I've started the CNA program at my local junior college, I've realized the love I have for working with people. As I've gotten older, I have pushed myself to be more of a leader in my community. Life is about stepping out of your comfort zone. I want to experience and do things are I'm not used to doing. My junior year I branched out of my bubble and took on a leadership role in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization. I have been leading a bible study every Sunday for the last two years. I have loved being able to minister to younger kids and my peers. By taking this role, I have opened up new possibilities for myself. I now have the confidence to be more of a leader in new situations. I love to be in the company of people, which is one of the reasons why I’ve chosen UT Austin, and I see myself being a leader at UT by taking part in several student organizations. I also have played volleyball all four years of high school and plan on joining an intramural volleyball team. As I’ve done in high school, I also plan to be involved in a bible study group by not only attending them, but possibly leading. One of the things I love about the University of Texas is it’s diversity. There are hundreds of organizations to be involved in no matter the interest. My interest in nursing is fairly new; I had not explored the potential that a nursing career can offer. I became familiar with nursing professionally after becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. While working with patients, side-by-side with nurses I became enamored with the potential of a nursing career. I now have a rewarding career working as a Medical-Surgical nurse on a Medical University Hospital floor that specializes in Transplant, Nephrology and Urology. My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from an innate desire to help people and care for them in times of need. I am also a person who thrives on being challenged and I always have new goals to achieve, so nursing suits me as few other careers offer as much diversity and learning opportunities so, attending Virginia Commonwealth University is something that has been my desire for the longest. The intentions that I have for when I become a nurse practitioner are to aid and care for the sick, as well as I am able but also to assist doctors and staff as well as I am capable.

It is a place filled with babies but the robust cries normally present in a nursery are muffled by the sounds of alarms, monitors, and concerned parents. A world in itself completely focused on saving lives. My dream is to be a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse because I desire to provide critical care and communication skills, along with emotional understanding and stability to the tiniest humans, and their parents.
In the near future my goal is to further my studies; in the nursing field as a Registered nurse. Personally, my main objectives to become a Registered nurse are, to help save the lives of other, accomplishing my goal, and living life more independently. These are the qualities that would best describe personality: enthusiastic, loving, caring, compassionate, honest, and a cheerful individual. I grow up to have deep passionate love for people, especially those that are unable to help themselves on a daily basis. I always vision myself attending to someone’s rescue; that is in danger or in critical condition. Leading You to a Healthy Lifestyle: Nurse Practitioners. I have imagined myself in several different careers that have interested me as I've grown up, from styling hair to being a fashion designer, and even a professional singer. Now, even though it is crazy to believe time has flown by so fast, I am at the age where I am deciding what I want to major in. Even though all of those professions I listed above were very interesting, there was one job when I was growing up that I knew would be a stable and interesting profession: a nurse practitioner. I have always been interested in health sciences and seeing as though I was familiar with a doctor’s office/hospital setting due to being born with a birth defect, I felt that nurse practitioner was the most suitable job for me.
Bright, flashing red and white lights and sirens racing down the road has been my entire life the past few years. Racing to the hospital in an ambulance volunteering to take care of people in need, doing the best I can to help them is the greatest gift I have received in life. Growing up I always wanted to start a career in nursing, more specifically, a registered nurse working in the intensive care unit. However, I started college and started my prerequisites towards a nursing degree and I realized nursing might not be the best health care career for me. I also went to school and became a certified nursing assistant while deciding what career path to take. After working in a retirement community for a few months I had definitely decided nursing was not in my future. After researching a few careers and talking to multiple health care professionals, I automatically knew choosing a career in radiography was my new plan. One credential that aligns with the type of job I’m seeking would be a certified medical office assistant. As a medical office assistant (MOA), I would be the first point of communication between patient and office, and I will be the one to set the tone for the patient’s experience. In addition to managing patients, MOAs also work behind the sections to organize appointments, lab test examinations, bring charts up to date, handle insurance repayments and other functions that may keep a medical office successively efficiently. A medical office assistant can have great flexibility by a doctor who has high expectations in his honesty and judgment, mainly in smaller office where an MOA must unavoidably
I want to be a nurse, specifically a nurse practitioner. I have always been fascinated with the medical field and see a bright future in it for me. I have the opportunity of meeting new people every day with a variety of personalities. There is always something new to discover in this field. A nurse practitioner's job is to be able to diagnose and treat illnesses. They also prescribe medicine and run physical exams. I am highly interested in pursuing the career of a nurse practitioner because the healthcare field is always in need for medical professionals, it pays well, and I am helping people at the same time.
Nursing and Qualities That I Possess to become a Good Nurse Nursing is the act of safely caring, protecting and improving our clients’/patients’ health and ability without causing any further harm or disability to them. Our primary goal is to restore and maintain good health physically, spiritually and psychologically. It is a science, such that one has to apply the nursing knowledge and technical aspects of practice. However, it is important to incorporate the act of patient-centered care, which is defined according to QSEN/NOF, as holistic care that recognizes the patient as the source of control and full-partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care with respect for the patient’s desire, values, needs and preferences. It has to incorporate with the nurse’s personality, i.e., certain qualities that the individual possess.

Emotional stability is a quality that a nurse possesses due to them being calm in some of the most traumatic situations. Education gives us knowledge of the world around us and job descriptions help to address the quality and quantity of performance standards. Those who settle into a position are more likely to achieve long term goals,better position themselves and gain marketable skills.
I have always wanted to become a nurse since I was a little girl, seeing both of my grandmothers working in a hospitals and always helping everyone in need. My goals in becoming a nurse is just the basic foundation of just helping people who physically cannot help themselves. I want to be able to shed light in people's lives who are losing it because of their situation. I feel as nurses is the backbone in the hospital.
