The pattern of work over the years seems to change from one era to another. With the advent of ever-growing technologies and innovation, the workforce environment and nature is moving from the traditional ways of working, thus creating a drastic change and a new revolution in it. This paper presents a critical reflection on how the nature of the workplace has been changing over the past years. The work life today completely contrasts with that of the past. The norms and dedication towards a company have moved on and work people are now distributed in multiple companies. In the past when there were only scant numbers of companies, people once joined the company did not want to move on to another one. This made them dedicated to a single company throughout their life. Since there was less option, less competition, workforce did not have any pressure so that they happily worked throughout their life. However, as various companies started to boom at various places, the choice of working in other companies increased. This, in turn, increased the competition which as a chain reaction, the impact of pressure directly came up the workforce. Thus the advancement of the technology and the increasing competencies in the work has created a massive impact on the changing nature of the workforce. Globalization has also played a role in it as the organizations tend to spread its business through their outlets and branches around the different parts of the world. This has made the organization's employee-centric and chooses those people who are capable of fulfilling their criteria in order to sustain their business in this competitive market (Mulcahy, 2017). This, in turn, has caused a drastic rise in stress level. The effect of it can be directly visualized in the productivity as increased stress results in the decline in productivity and negative impact on the employee’s physical and mental health conditions. As people from various parts of the world come together in an organization to work for it, cultural conflict too seems to arise due to it.
