Fundamental rights that belong to an individual that the government may not interfere with are human rights. The person you chose to love should not be the government’s decision. The government shouldn’t deny you the right of marriage just because you want to be with someone of the same sex. Someone’s sexual orientation shouldn’t prevent them from getting married, being able to adopt children, or be the cause of not having any other rights that a straight person would have. Marriage is defined as a legal union that forms a familial bond. Marriage is just a title that a couple can have that shows how devoted and inlove they are with each other. Why is it so wrong that two people of the same sex would want to have that title? Some may say that marriage has a big part with religion. The bible says that a marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman. There are many different types of religions and everyone who wants to get married regardless of their religion can (if they are straight). In America one of our human rights is freedom of religion.(Sadowski). Now why is just one religion (Christianity) affecting the reason why two people can’t get married? Not saying that everyone who is gay doesn’t have a religion, just saying that gays are humans like everyone else. They deserve the rights and privileges that everyone else has. If marriage was so sacred then why do we have divorce? These ideas of a perfect union between man and woman are out dated. If two people show that they deeply care about each other enough to commit their life to one another then they should be able to get married. When it comes to parenting “two parents are better than one good parent, but one good parent is better than two bad parents. And gender make... ... middle of paper ... ...hts that gays would have. No one wants to be denied their rights that everyone should have. In conclusion denying anyone human rights is just wrong. Discriminating against someone because of their sexual orientation is wrong. We need to put an end to all of this, we need to move pass the judgment that our society has today. Love is love no matter what race or gender you are. Works Cited Clinton, Hillary R. In our world there has and will always have social issues that our society that is damaging our people. One of the proponent issue is in our world is Homophobia. As Homophobia is defined has people that dislike of or is prejudice against homosexual people. Recently our society has started to be more accepting with the LGBTQ community. Homophobia has really affected all people in very negative ways regardless of their sexual orientation. As homophobia is based on someone disliking or being prejudice to another person targeted to people that are homosexual. There are many people that want to fight against homophobia and help protect and support the LGBTQ community. The different sexual orientations of all individuals they have the right to be who they identity them selves as. As homophobia not only affects the LGBTQ community but affects every sexual orientation, seeing that much hate and prejudice toward people it is just sad and disturbing that people still hate on something they have no control over.
Why is it wrong to let humans of the same sex marry someone they truly love? Many people in our society share different opinions on why it is right and why it is wrong. Kim Davis (a clerk in Rowan County Kentucky) decided to say no to handing out marriage licenses to same sex couples because she felt it was against her religion. She refused to give a license to a couple of the same sex and was put in jail. In this case, I am against Davis because you as a person have no right to go against law and this individual freedom. I am very religious, but I have come to see that there should never be a reason to forbid someone from the person they love just based off of their sex. The law in the U.S permits same-sex marriage and no matter how mad people get, it is now allowed. Men and women now have freedom to love their partner with comfort in society. They now have the right to be married. Gay marriage has a historical background dating back to the 1970’s. In the case of Baker v.s Nelson, two men applied for a marriage license and were rejected even though the Minnesota law did not specify gender in the law of marriage. This is another point where law did not specify gender, so why was it rejected? This tells me that people judged and did not like the idea of same-sex marriage, so they just agreed to reject it. Individual freedom to love another person and get married was taken away from these people just because

Equality is a topic of great debate in the world today, ranging from the people of the LGBT community fighting for their right to marry the person they love, to minorities fighting for the right to not be racially profiled and prosecuted for their skin color, to store owners and clerks fighting for their right to religious freedom if they do not want to serve a gay man or woman. While not all of these rights are fully recognized, there are rights that every man, woman, and child, in democratic countries, have. Whether these rights are God given or legislative, they allow everybody to better himself the way he sees fit. Every person has the ability to say or write what he wants and how he wants to.
The Right¬¬s of the LGBTQ+ Community are continually being considered unjust by a large amount of religious organization and groups. These groups claim that their holy law allows them to be the highest authority on the rights of those around them. Though the world may stand against them, they do not appear to be backing down anytime soon. Since the stonewall riots of the late 1960’s, America has had a strong fixation on the constant debate of whether the LGBTQ+ community should be able to adopt, marry, use the bathroom, or even live. Even now, many Americans, particularly in the south, have stood against letting them have these rights.

Participants included 44 12- to 18-year-old adolescents parented by same-sex couples and 44 same-aged adolescents parented by opposite-sex couples, matched on demographic characteristics and drawn from a national sample. Normative analyses indicated that, on measures of psychosocial adjustment and school outcomes, adolescents were functioning well, and their adjustment was not generally associated with family type.
As the years have passed, homosexuality has become a very controversial topic. The fact that day by day they fight for equality just to be happy, I think it is an injustice that many people refuse to give them the rights they deserve.
Marriage, for years has been argued that the rights to it or strictly only between a man and a women. Both sexes are assumed to marry someone of the opposite sex. What if, however, an individual wanted to marry someone of the same sex? Why is this debate so heavily heated amongst individuals? Is it that religion is a large structure base that those in society are guided by? Or is it that individuals do not understand that marriage is a union between two individuals who are in love? Whatever the case may be, there is always someone who has to argue that homosexual marriage is “wrong.”

... Society needs to reevaluate the definition of love and the fact that all humans are created equal and should be able to love whomever they want to. There needs to be more laws and support for same-sex couples and gay marriage. Laws should be made to protect those who choose to love the person of the same-sex, and no discrimination against gays. Judging same-sex marriages should never be acceptable when including: health concerns, adoption, living conditions, job opportunities, ECT... Everyone should be able to love whoever they want and never let anything get into the way of that. In today’s society some people can't be with the person they truly love, because it is not society acceptable in most areas and it is too much of a struggle live like that on a daily basis. The world needs to open their eyes and realize that this is not acceptable under any circumstances.
There indicators of child developmental outcomes were categorized into parent and child relationship quality, children’s cognitive development, children’s gender role behavior, children’s gender identity, children’s sexual preference, and children’s social and emotional development. There analysis showed that children with same-sex parents fared equally to children raised by heterosexual parents when comparing developmental outcomes. Same-sex parents also reported a significantly better relationship with their children than heterosexual parents, which was measured by the parent or child perception of the quality of their relationship. This goes back to the argument that parent sexuality has no impact on the child but rather the relationship between the parent and the child has is the most impactful. In Crowl, Ahn and Baker (2008) meta-analysis study also found that the parent sexual orientation had no effect on gender identity, cognitive development, psychological adjustment, and sexual
There are many opponents of gay people as it is, and they all have their reasons to dislike the idea of permitting them get married. One of the main reasons is that the primary purpose of marriage is procreation. Because gay couples are unable to have children, they should not be allowed to marry (Schiffen 495). Another main argument is that the word marriage means the union of one man and one woman. This is a long-standing theme of most major Western religions. Under a proposed bill known as the Defense of Marriage act, marriage is defined as “a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife.” Furthermore, it defines a spouse as “ a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or wife” (What 1). Under these guidelines, it is quite obvious that gay couples would not be eligible for marriage. People against homosexual marriage also say that it is a person’s choice to be gay. Since the individual chooses to be a homosexual, they should not be given special privileges. Another argument that you hear is that these couples should not get married simply because of the torment and ridicule they would be faced with in their everyday lives. There are news reports from across America telling about how a gay person was beaten or killed just because they were looked at as different. Some of these people would end up the target of verbal abuse and maybe even physical abuse, just because some heterosexual people see them as different.
Many people believe in a traditional marriage between a man and a woman. God created man and woman to be faithful and produce children. Same-sex marriage is contrary to the word of God and the laws of nature; therefore, it is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups. Many biblical scriptures talk about how immoral same-sex marriage is.
In conclusion I argue that banning same-sex marriage is discriminatory. It is discriminatory because it denies homosexuals the many benefits received by heterosexual couples. The right to marriage in the United States has little to do with the religious and spiritual meaning of marriage. It has a lot to do with social justice, extending a civil right to a minority group. This is why I argue for same-sex marriage. The freedom to marry regardless of gender preference should be allowed.
