Recommended: Gmo impact on human health essay

GMOs GMOs are genetically modified organisms. To make a GMO we take one piece of DNA from one species and move it to another. In the past we use selective breeding which took a long time to get the product we wanted where as GMOs don't take very long at all. We should not be messing around with the nature by using GMOs because GMOs can have some health problems, Environmental damage, and some GM animals are in terrible condition. There is some scientific evidence that GMOs can lead to health problems later on in life. GMOs can lead to immune problems, accelerated aging and changes in major organs. GMOs have not been around long enough to prove that there will not be no health problems associated with GMOs. GMOs have been linked to thousands of toxic and allergic reactions. We do not know if someone will have an allergic reaction to certain GMO so it is not safe for some people and may …show more content…

An environmental damage is that Monarch butterflies because the maize flowers were genetically modified and now the Monarch butterfly population has decreased. GMOs can be toxic to non- targeted organisms like bees and butterflies. So they are not ok because we are killing things that we don't even want to kill because we are having a problem with other insects. The problem that we have with pesticides are the some of the same problems with GMOs. Genetically modifying animals is unethical. Some animals that have been genetically modified have many problems. GM salmon have deformities, breathing difficulties, reduced swimming abilities and a lower tolerance to disease. Many animals have died early deaths because they have health problems because they have been genetically modified. It just isn't write to make the animals suffer because we want something from them and that we keep doing it. The animals life is not the greatest and they don't have the greatest quality of life. No living thing should have to suffer just for our own
