A patient’s bill of rights are important not only because it states the rights of a patient but also because it is a Florida statute. The main purpose of the patient’s bill of rights is to ensure health care providers give patients a general understanding as it pertains to their health enabling them to make informed decisions. These rights promote a better communication between the patients and the provider, thus protecting the interests and wellbeing of the patients.

In Florida, the patient’s bill of rights are part of the state’s legislation and it is referred to as Florida Patient’s Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
