Great first impressions are difficult to accomplish, but a successful first impression at a job interview is a true struggle for some people. Job interviews are crucial for just about any job in the world; however, job interviews can create a lot of anxiety and stress. One thing people may not know is that first impressions alone sometimes decide whether a person has the job or not. How do I have a successful initial impression at a job interview a person may ask. Body language includes smiling, fidgeting, posture, etc. Smiling spreads an up-lifting vibe and shows the individual contains energetic emotions. Fidgeting shows nervousness and can lower the interview’s spirits before the interview even begins. On the other hand, a positive body language could be using motions or stances when appropriate. Appropriate motions would be placing hands behind back if standing or using fingers when saying a number. While many people slouch in his or her chair, it is appropriate and healthy to sit in a chair properly. Acting as someone else leads to trouble. Acting like someone else will do more harm than good, mainly to the individual than anyone else. In an initial impression, act no different than usual because acting as someone else is basically lying to oneself. This behavior adds stress and most of the time, misery. The interviewer expects the individual to be authentic from the moment of introduction. Ensuing authentic behavior demonstrates a model interviewee and ensures for a successful initial impression. Without doubt, preparing for the initial impression and the interview itself will route the individual to accomplish those. Stating to be prepared for the initial impression and the interview is vague, however, make appropriate judgments as to what to expect. If the workplace is casual, it is best to act more casual, in an appropriate way that is. Contrary, if the workplace is formal, act professional and do not be timid.
